1. What is instructional materials in your own words?

Instructional material are the resources/tools used as vehicles to help communicate the
information/educational resources use to improve student knowledge and abilities and skills to
monitor their behavior by information and contribution to their overall development. They
include both visual and audio-visual aids and could either be concrete or non-concrete.

2. What is instructional materials development?

Instructional Materials Development is a program that includes four components:
• Learning Progressions – supports the creation of instructional frameworks
• IMs for Students – supports the creation and substantial revision of comprehensive
curricula
• Assessment – supports creation of tools for assessing student learning
• Applied Research – supports the research for development of the IMD program

3. What are the challenges of improvisation of instructional materials?

The challenges of using instructional materials are non-availability of materials, laziness of the
teachers, lack of skill and strategies, financial constraint, lack of appropriate materials in
textbook, time constraint, lack of support from authority and lack of geography resource room
etc.
 4. Why do teachers need to prepare instructional materials?
Teachers need to prepare IM’s because it enhances the teaching/learning process. It enable
both the teachers and students to participate actively and effectively in lesson sessions.
Learners can use educational materials to gain practical experience that will help them build
skills and concepts and work in a number of ways.

5. What is the importance of instructional materials?

The importance of IMs/Educational resources is to improve students’ knowledge, abilities, skills,
monitor their assimilation of information, and to contribute to their overall development. It
clarifies important concepts to arouse and sustain student’s interests, give students in a class
the opportunity to share experiences that are crucial for new learning.

2. In what way asynchronous and synchronous Communication System facilitate learning in

Mathematics Teaching.(5 POINTS)
Asynchronous facilitate learning through teaching materials that are posted online, and learners work
through them in their own time, communicating with each other and the teacher via discussion
boards/forums, or even by email. In synchronous it take place via online learning, through the use of
video conferencing, live chat/instant messaging.
