TREZI ACADEMY PROPOSAL

FOR

Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Architecture, Pune

Date: 9th March, 2022

1. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROPOSAL

The objective of this proposal is:

Introduction of Virtual Reality at Dr. D.Y.Patil College of Architecture through Trezi (a


SmartVizX product) via its Trezi Academy initiative:

● Develop a structured curriculum for imparting VR based training to students of


D.Y.Patil College.
● Provide Dr. D.Y. Patil College access to Trezi, India’s first virtual reality product for Architects,
and help its students prepare better for the demands of the architectural profession.
● Run the Trezi program at Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Architecture for two (2) years at least
for a cost of INR 950 per student per month (exclusive of taxes) for a minimum number
of 120 students.

2. PROPOSED MODES OF COLLABORATION

Trezi and Dr. D.Y. Patil College propose to collaborate through Trezi’s Academy initiative in
the following manner:

● Course Type: Credit-based course or elective course, as per the


institute/university
● Course Name: INTRODUCTION TO RELEVANCE OF IMMERSIVE TECHNOLOGIES IN
ARCHITECTURE
● Number of Lectures per semester: 1 lecture every week
● Lecture Duration: 1-hour
● One scheduled Trezi expert campus visits a month through the semester

3. DELIVERABLES AND PAYMENT TERMS

● Monthly Costs: INR 950 per student per month (minimum 120 subscriptions and
exclusive of taxes)
● Trezi subscriptions will be provided to the University/Institute as part of Trezi
Academy Curriculum.
● 1 HP VR Headsets will be provided by Trezi for Student use.
● Access to VR Ready Hardware from HP (connect University to HP student
initiative)
● Training nominated faculty member on Trezi, to successfully liaise with student & faculty
● Industry Connects for Students.
● Invoices are to be raised on the first day of the month. University/Institute to clear these by the
7th of each month

Course Objectives (CO):

CO1: Explaining & Understanding the fundamentals of Immersive Technologies and their
relevance in Architectural Education

CO2: Applying & Analyzing the relevance of Immersive Technologies in Professional


Practice through the understanding application of Trezi

CO3: Evaluating Hardware associated with VR, along with necessary understanding in
setting the hardware for Trezi software and creating modules applicable in design
studios.

Course Content:
Practical understanding of Immersive Technology concepts to be imparted through theory and
hands-on use of Trezi in the development of design projects of the ongoing semester.

Unit 1: Theory-based understanding of Immersive Technologies and its relevance in Architectural


Education and Professional Practice
● Introduction to Immersive Technologies
● Evolution of Immersive Technology
● Immersive Tech in Academia
● Immersive Tech and Professional Practice
● Introduction to VR Hardware

Unit 2: Basics of 3D Modelling


● Understanding the basics of 3D rendering
● Preparing 3D Models for VR/Real-Time rendering
● Best Practices in 3D modelling and pitfalls to avoid
● Introduction to 3D modelling tools that work with Trezi: Sketchup, 3Ds max,Revit
Unit 3: Setting Up VR Hardware, Trezi Installation, and Introduction to Trezi

Connecting VR Head-mounted device and setting up VR equipment (to be completed in week


1 of Unit 3)
● Starting with Trezi: Download, Setup, and Troubleshooting
● Importing existing 3D Models in Trezi from compatible formats
● Introduction to feature sets

Unit 4: Introduction to Trezi workflow - Integrating studio design


projects

● Insert models of ongoing studio project into Trezi


● Explore and understand product libraries: BIM Objects, Trezi Library, Real-Time
Product catalogs
● Explore and understand Media feature: 360 Pano, Video, 2D renders
● Explore and understand Trezi Teleport (VR meetings)

Instructions to the Examiner:

VR and Trezi to be used in final juries

5. PROPOSED INTEGRATION WITH THE CURRICULUM
● Commence with odd semester every year and extend to even semester with an
advanced course
● Existing faculty to be trained on Trezi and course content
● 1 hour every week to be dedicated to Trezi
● In the long run, course to be planned as Odd Semester being for Introduction to Trezi
and Even Semester for Advanced Course

6. CONFIDENTIALITY

● During and for a period of three years from the date of disclosure, each party agrees to
consider as confidential all information disclosed by the other party in written or tangible
form or, if orally disclosed, confirmed in writing within thirty days of disclosure and
identified as confidential by the disclosing party.
● The obligations above shall not extend to any confidential information for which the
receiving party can prove that this information:
- is in the public domain at the time of disclosure or comes within the public domain
without the fault of the receiving party.
- is already known or become known to the receiving party
- is received from a third party having no obligations of confidentiality to the disclosing party,
- is independently developed by the receiving party; or
- is required to be disclosed by law or court order.

7. NON-EXCLUSIVITY

The relationship of the parties under this association shall be nonexclusive and both
parties, including their affiliates, subsidiaries, and divisions, are free to pursue other
agreements or collaborations of any kind. However, when entering into a particular
research agreement, the participants may agree to limit each party's right to collaborate
with others on that subject.

8. TERMS AND TERMINATION

This association, unless extended by mutual written agreement of the parties, shall
expire 2 years after the effective date specified in the opening paragraph. This association
may be amended or terminated earlier by mutual written agreement of the parties at any
time. Either party shall have the right to unilaterally terminate this association upon 60
days prior written notice to the other party. However, no such early termination of this
association, whether mutual or unilateral, shall affect the obligations of the participants
under any Research Agreement. Confidentiality clause as referenced in clause 6 above or
any other agreement entered into according to this association, which obligations shall
survive any such termination.

9. RELATIONSHIP

Nothing in this association shall be construed to make either party a partner, an agent,
or legal representative of the other for any purpose.
10. ASSIGNMENT

It is understood by the Parties herein this association is based on the professional competence
and expertise of each party and hence neither Party shall transfer or assign this Agreement, or
rights or obligations arising hereunder, either wholly or in part, to any third party.
