Object 3:

For the TOK EOSA Exhibition, the prompt

I have chosen is "why do we seek
knowledge?" and with this, the three
prompts are a telescope, aeroplane and a
boat.

The prompt why we seek knowledge is

exploring why we humans urge to learn
new things and invent new things to seek
knowledge. All the objects chosen are
connected with the prompt and explain
why we urge to learn new things and
what we have learned from them. The rst
object is a telescope; a telescope is a tool that astronomers use to see faraway objects. These
astronomers have a human nature to be curious and eager to seek knowledge. Even though it
does not have a known creator, it has still undergone some improvements over time. A telescope
allows us to acknowledge the positions humans have in this vast universe, and it provides us with
a new perspective on the world and everything around us. With this, the way telescopes are used
to gather information is that they work by using curved mirrors to gather and focus light through
which we gather information about the sky, planets, space, universe, etc. The telescope is also
helping us expand our technology and let us seek new knowledge about the new technology that
we are expanding.

The second object is an aeroplane; an aeroplane is a vehicle that can y through the air, with
wings and one or more engines. Aeroplanes are signi cant and help us seek knowledge in a way
people do not imagine. The one most important thing that we learn from aeroplanes is safety; we
learn how to be safe while ying and di erent ways to be safe. Aeroplanes also help us look in the
sky and the atmosphere to know and get an idea of how everything looks and how we have
di erent types of view like an aerial view, etc. An aeroplane teaches us this, but it also gives us
knowledge on how it can a ect us economically and how ying could improve the GDP globally.

The third object is a boat, a small vehicle that is used for travelling across the water. A boat is an
essential object for this prompt. It helped us learn how a boat can be used in various ways like for
travel, recreation, sports, shing, transportation, military use, and rescue operations. For travel,
the boat helped us learn that we can practically live in a boat for a couple of weeks and travel
from a country to another, etc.

The object also helped us discover di erent kinds of aquatic lives and seek knowledge about
them which increased the marine biological industry and helped us make a new interpretation
about them.

Ultimately, all three objects have given us humans some knowledge or a way to seek knowledge
about the future and the past. It has also cleared a lot of our assumptions and questions. These
objects have helped us make discoveries and helped us expand our technology, and be more
techno-savvy and knowledgeable.
