Learning Outline
1. Play vocabulary game to activate knowledge of words learned in previous
Pre-lesson years. Focus on word sets pupils will use in this lesson (personality adjectives,
family, school subjects, freetime activities and holidays).
1. Introduce yourself and describe your personality with an adjective, e.g. Hi! I’m
kind Sara. Have pupils brainstorm personality adjectives and introduce
themselves in groups. Ask pupils to make name cards (this could be done at
home) showing their personality and their name.
2. Pupils look at the picture on tb pg 4. Elicits the characters name and hat they
want to learn and asks ppls what they would like to learn about this year.
3. Ask for two or three volunteers to introduce themselves to the class using the
texts as a model. Ask all pupils to introduce themselves to their partner, using
Lesson Delivery the texts and the volunteers as a model.
4. Play the audio. Ppls listen to the audio. Distributes audio script and ppls listen
the audio again and circle the incorrect information.
5. Pupils read the script again. Ask a question to check their overall
understanding of the text, for example: Which child are you similar to? Pupils
tell their partner.
6. Ask pupils to note two things about themselves in their notebooks. Using these
notes and the personality adjective, ask pupils to write at least two sentences
about themselves.
Post Lesson 1. Pupils introduce themselves in new groups by reading their self-introduction.

1. Review previous lesson’s personality adjectives and pupils’ names with a short

2. Briefly review the content of Activity 1 (Pupil’s Book, p.5) by asking pupils what
they remember about the four children in previous lesson.

4. Pupils use their questions to ask a partner about themselves. They check the

Pre-lesson 1. Play a language game to introduce the two topics (jobs & places),
2. Call out names of some jobs and places. Asks ppls to put up one hand if they
hear a job and two hands if they hear a place. Ppls listen to words and
categorise them. (eg: doctor,lawyer,farmer, supermarket, school etc)
3. Refer activity 1 pg 6-7. Look at the picture and elicits the pupils. In pairs, ppls
find and say three words beginning with the letters “p,s,b,f and c”. set the time
limit and check answers as class.
4. Pupils listen to the word and point to the picture. Drill the new words as they
point. Focus on difficult sounds and word stress of longer words eg
Lesson Delivery photographer, businesswoman and police officer. Ask pupils to count the
syllables with their fingers and highlight the stressed syllable.
5. Read aloud the definitions teacher has prepared about the picture. Pupils
listen to the definitions and try to find the words described. They write the
words. [E.g. This is a person who rides the waves on a board].
6. Check answers and draw attention to spelling where needed.
7. Have pupils prepare some similar definitions and play the game in small
groups.

Pre-lesson 1. Review new or difficult vocabulary from the previous lesson.
2. Play game TRUE/FALSE. This game allows ppls to hear and physically respond
to the sentences in the target language. A) write big TRUE at the top of the
board and big FALSE at the bottom. B) Read out true/false sentences about
previous topic. – If the sentences is true, the ppls say TRUE and clap their
hands. If it FALSE, they say false and put their hands over their eyes.
3. Activity 2- to focus on spelling. Ppls look and find words in the picture. Write
Lesson Delivery four words for each category. Ppls write out in their notebook.
4. Activity 3, ppls work in pairs and write true/false sentences about the picture.
One ppl read out loud the sentences and the other answer true/false. Ppls
write their statements in their notebooks.
5. Pairs join another pair. Pupils read the other pair’s statements and decide
which are true and which are false. They explain their answer to the other pair.

6. On the board, teacher writes one or two sentences pupils made mistakes in.
Post Lesson
Ask pupils to work with a partner to say the correct sentence.
