Announcements
Eastertide is ending – The Great Fifty Days of the church year extend from
Easter through Pentecost (June 12, this year). Weekly communion at 8:30
a.m. and the Paschal Candle have marked Eastertide. After today we resume
our practice of celebrating communion at both services on the first Sunday of
each month.
Our United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) has planned a summer
mission project here in Austin, at our neighbor, Saint Louise House. It is
open to all members and friends of BUMC. Those who are entering 6th grade
next fall are invited to participate. Post-high school adults are also welcome.
We will work Monday through Thursday, July 18-22, from 9 a.m. until 2
p.m. The work includes painting, staining and landscaping. Materials will be
provided by SLH, and Berkeley members have been asked to provide daily
lunches for the group. This Wednesday, June 8, anyone interested is invited
to go to Saint Louise House at 10 a.m. to meet with a representative. She will
explain the purpose of Saint Louise House and the service they provide
women and children of this community. To sign up for this meeting, please
contact Brad Straup, youth director, at 680-9321 or
kholdstare21@yahoo.com. If you would like to know more, or to participate
for one or more days, please contact Brad as soon as possible. Adult
background checks must be completed.
It’s almost VBS time again and there’s a fun time to be had at the Shake it Up
Café! We welcome children ages 4-12 to join us June 26th through June 30th
from 5:45 pm to 8:30 pm for a light supper, songs, Bible stories with drama,
crafts and games. There will also be a corresponding adult VBS study led by
Mike Crevier. Don’t miss the fun! And the final night will conclude with a
churchwide Ice Cream Social and Hymn Sing coordinated by the Spiritual
Care and Education Committees. YUM! Please contact Polly Aranda at 512-

VBS.
The United Methodist Committee on Relief is on the scene in Joplin, MO and
other communities affected by spring tornados. If you would like to
contribute to relief efforts through UMCOR, you may write a check to
Berkeley UMC with "tornado relief" on the memo line or use an offering
envelope for cash, writing "tornado relief" on the envelope. Thank you for
