Lesson 1: Strengths, Interests, Values Reflection

Part 1: Do What You Are


Complete the Do What You Are survey in Naviance. Use your report to answer the
questions below.
1. What is your personality type?
ISFJ

2. What does each aspect of your personality mean about you?

Introversion, sensing, feeling, judging.

3. List two strengths indicated on your report. Give an example from your life that
demonstrates that these qualities are strengths.

Two of my strengths are introversion and judging. I like to work at a steady pace where I
can be sure of what I'm doing and I like to do tasks that require a lot of concentration.
Also, I enjoy tasks that allow me to make careful decisions.

4. What qualities should a career have in order to satisfy your particular


personality?

I will focus on a career that requires a lot of concentration and patience.

5. How can you use this information to make an informed career choice?
I'll make my choice by researching the careers that offer those qualities.

Part 2: MI Advantage
Complete the MI Advantage survey in Naviance. Use your report to answer the
questions below.
6. What are your top three intelligences?

Persistent, cooperative and practical.

7. What do these intelligences mean about you?

This means that I would be consistent and I will be cooperative in everything I do.

8. How can you use this information to make an informed career choice?

I would research and look for those careers that match these qualities.
Part 3: Career Interests Profiler
Complete the Career Interests Profiler in Naviance. Use your report to answer the
questions below.
1. What are your strongest interests?
My strongest interest is investigative. I like to work with tasks that require a lot of
thinking and that involve working with ideas.

2. What do these interests mean about you?


These interests mean that I like to work and constantly think of ideas to solve the
problem.

3. How can you use this information to make an informed career choice?
I will focus on a career that is looking for these qualities and interests.

Part 4: Work Values


Go to www.onetonline.org
. Under “Advanced Search”, select “Work Values”. Review the description of each work
value. Select three work values that are most important to you. Answer the questions
below about your work values.
4. What are your top three work values
My top three work values are achievements, relationships and support.

5. What do these work values mean about you?


What these work values mean to me is that I like to make achievements at work, like
being the best employee of the month or making sales for the company. Things like
those are what I like to do. Also, I like to be supportive of my teammates and encourage
them to do their best.

6. How can you use this information to make an informed career choice?
I would use this information to make a career choice by putting my work values out
there for employers to see.

Part 5: Career Results Comparison


Review the career lists provided at the end of each survey. Identify three careers that
are similar across the lists. List the careers and explain why each career may be
satisfying to you citing evidence from your survey results.

The careers are industrial engineering, mining and geological engineering and human
factors engineers and ergonomists. I think that these careers are satisfying to me because
they involve a lot of problem solving and constantly thinking of ideas to make the situation
better.
