Living things

and
Non-living things
By: Kristine B. Dionisio
BEED 2-A
There is a girl named Sarah. Sarah was walking with her pet dog and it is Sachu.
They were on their way to her cousin Ann's house, because her cousin Ann will help her with her school
project.
As they were walking, they saw a squirrel rushing to climb a tree branch and because of that his dog Sachu
suddenly ran and chased the squirrel.
Sarah tried to stop her dog from chasing the squirrel and said…
Hurry up, Sachu! Ann
must be waiting for
us. She said she’ll
help me with my
school project.
Oh yeah… the one living
and non-living things.
And so Sarah and her dog Sachu went on their way. As they were walking they saw a rabbit that seemed
to be crying from pain while holding his one leg.
v

Hey little Rabbit! What’s wrong?

That… that rock hit me on the
foot and made me fall!
Oh… poor you! You must’ve
stumbled on it accidentally.
While Sarah and Rabbit were talking, the other animals came to the place.
The rock came in my way!
Someone should teach him a
lesson.

The rock is not a living

thing Rabbit.
I don’t know what a living
thing is. The rock made me
fall and hurt my foot!
The living thing is one
that is alive. Something
that eats, breathes and
grows.
Like you and me!

The rock doesn’t

breathe, eat or grow.
And Rabbit suddenly thought of what Sarah and the other animals were talking about, because he had
really no idea about it the living things and non-living things.
I think our friend is
still confused. I think
it’s time for us to
explain this to him.
Sarah continued on walking together with the other animals. As Sarah and the animals walked, they saw a
group of animals who was loudly singing.
Animals:
“We are
animals, we
are home
here, we eat
fruits and
greens, we
breathe the
forest air,
grow from
small to big
and have cute
little babies,
we hurt and
feel pain and
can cry. We
are living
things, that’s
why!”
And that is rock! You can see it here and everywhere.
But it can’t eat or breathe or move to go here and there.
It can’t grow from small to big or have cute little
babies, or hurt, or feel pain, or cry! It’s non-living thing
that’s why!
Oh, that was so much fun!
So… I am a living thing?
We all are!
So, it couldn’t have
made you fall.

And the rock is a

non-living thing.
It rolled towards the
tree after it hurt my… I
mean, after I stumbled
on it.
Non-living things can be only
move when they pushed or
pulled by someone
It got pushed by
your foot!
I suppose I was not watching my
step. You made me see the
difference between what is alive
and what isn’t. I must go home
now. Thanks!
Because of that, Sarah and the other animals were relieved because Rabbit was enlightened and learned
something about the living and non-living things around him.
Also, Sarah was very happy because her school project is also about living things and non-living things and she
can add what she learned into it.
So, Sarah and her dog Sachu continued walking to get to Ann's house to do her school project.
