This happened in the summer of 1999. I lived in London
and worked in a photographic lab. I had worked in photography but as a messenger. I had been working as a printer for 6 months when this happened. Every Friday we used to clean up early at 4pm. My boss would give me 20 pounds to go to the shop and get beer for everyone. Then we would finish closing the lab and listen to some tunes and drink beer. I remember one sunny Friday I had taken the money and was walking up the road to the shop. On the other side of the road there was this tall, beautiful woman with the nicest smile. She was looking at me smiling. Then she even waved at me. I thought I was in luck and then.. I walked straight into a lamppost. She smiled at me because she had realised I was checking her out and was about to walk into the post. I felt like a complete plonka and my body was in agony. It really hurt. I bought the beer and went back to work. When they asked me what had happened, my face was bruised and my lip was bleeding, I made up a story about running into a guy I owed money to. “Rubbish “ shouted my colleague. He had been at the shop to buy tobacco and had seen it all. So he told the office what had happened and they had a good laugh while they were drinking.
