    OVERVIEW SESSION PLAN


    Energy is one of the key enablers for a country’s economic
    development. Other than economic growth, human developmental
    aspects like poverty reduction, employment generation, etc. are Overview of Indian Electricity Act, 2003
    also considerably dependent on secure energy supply. Electricity Legal Framework, Electricity Policy & Tariff Policy
    sector in India is under the concurrent list of the constitution and is Jurisprudence in Electricity Law
    administered both by the central and the state governments. The Insight on Important Sections of Electricity Act
    Electricity Act, 2003 is currently the legislation governing the Indian Leading Legal Judgments
    electricity sector. With growth in the industrial and services sector Details on Regulatory & Power Reforms
    in the 80s and the 90s, the power sector has changed significantly. Rules & Regulation in the Electricity Acts
    Regulatory changes during this period sought to increase private DERC Functions & Supply Codes 2017
    sector participation in the sector, and bring in more competition Focusing on Redressal of Grievances in Distribution
    and efficiency. This resulted in the state owned electricity boards Electricity Rules, 2020
    being restructured. The generation segment was delicensed, and
    gradually witnessed increased private participation. Independent
    regulators were set up at both the central and state level, and
    Appellate Tribunals were established to hear appeals against these
