FLAT PATTERN LAYOUT

When makingflat patternlayoutsfor parts with .13Rsubtract .09for each 90" bend' For example,to make a
channel1 x2x1 add all 3 sidestogether,which would be 4 inches.Then subtract.18which would meanthe f lat
patternwould be 3.g2.For parts*itn . t 6R subtract.15for each90" bend.For bendsof lessthan 90" this f igure
is greatlyreducedand need not be consideredbelow 45". For bendsof over 90" it increasesgreatly.A good
way to determinehow much to subtractis to take a 2 inch pieceof metaland bend it in the middleto the proper
angle.Measurethe 2 sidesand subtract2 inchesf rom their total. This is the amount gainedin each bend.On
partswith over 90" bends the part can be smallerthan the call out.
