WEEKENDS TREE PLANTING

The number of trees that were lost in the past few months and years was increased. It is because
of the past typhoons that were happened in our province. Also, some of the natural calamities and man’s
misbehaviour doings contributed a lot in increasing the number of lost trees. Loss of trees may cause a
lot of negative outcomes not just in our nature but also with us, humans. It can cause landslides that may
destroy properties and worst is, it can destroy lives. Lacking an enough number of trees also contributes
to the increase of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere which makes the earth’s temperature hotter. These
bad effects of loss of trees that could happen anytime could be avoided if we do and implement the
“WEEKENDS TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY”.

This activity and the organizers want to be implemented this because it aims the following
purposes that they think are beneficial for everyone. The activity aims to:

1. SAVE LIVES, PROPERTRIES, AND THE NATURE;

By doing this activity we could prevent some of natural calamities such as landslide that could
cause loss of lives and properties. The nature might also be saved from destruction if there is a huge
amount of planted trees.

2. PREVENT THE SOILS TO SLIDE;

If there are enough trees in our mountains, the soil can be prevented from sliding whenever there
are heavy rains. The tree’s roots are the main holder of the soils. Meaning, it binds every soils
particles and prevent it from sliding. So if ever there are no trees left from our mountains, the soil
would slide from mountains.

3. DECREASE THE EARTH’S TEMPERATURE.

Because trees were loss for the past lot of years, it is one of the causes why carbon dioxide is
increased in atmosphere which makes the earth’s temperature hotter. There are no instruments that
help in decreasing these carbon dioxides but trees. So we have to plant more trees.

Since students have their classes during weekdays, and the organizers want them to be the
planters, the activity will be held during weekends at exactly 8 o’clock in the morning up to 12 o’clock
in the afternoon. The activity will be done every other weekend. There are a certain number of plants
that should be planted in different mountains in our province and the minimum number of plants that
should be planted is 20 per day. The plants that will be planted are fruit bearing trees that will be
purchasing by the organizers. The estimated price of each plant is 50 pesos and the activity aims to plant
100 plants. Means, the estimated budget for the activity is 5000 pesos and other needs are not included
on this budget. After these, the plants will be monitoring by organizers within years to check if it grew
all.
The WEEKENDS TREE PLANTING must be implemented for it is very beneficial with
everyone. According to a study, tree planting has seven great benefits to human beings. These benefits
are the following:

1. ACT AS FILTER AGAINST POLLUTION

One of the advantages of doing this environmental activity is to have or maintain clean air in our
surroundings. With the amount of pollutants that affect the ozone layer oxygen, we do not have
enough clean air to breathe in. This can result to many health problems, such as colds, asthma, lung
problem, heart attack, and cancer.

2. HELP RECYCLE WATER

Another helpful result of planting trees in our own community is that it provides cleaner water.
To scientifically explain this, the roots of the trees act as a filter of water from rain or tap water. This
can bring clean water back in the land that can form as river, lake, and other water forms.

3. PREVENT LOSS OR REDUCTION OF HEALTHY SOIL

The roots, whether small or big, also make the soul in the ground to stay formed together. This is
one effective way to help soil collapsed, which provides an advantage when big or heavy rain pours
down in the community. It can prevent flood as the water is sipped by the trees’ roots.

4. CREATE SHADE

This is good for everyone who owns a home. Trees are not only found in the woods and
mountainous areas. You can certainly plant a few trees right at your own backyard, front area, and
the sides of your house. This provides shade from the sun, as it gives more and cleaner air.

5. PRODUCE FOODS

Some trees bear fruits that we enjoyable eat. This is one great benefit of having trees around us.
They are not just edible objects, but healthy foods that we can eat every day. Also, remember the
fact that fruits produced by certain trees do not only provide foods to us, but also to animals.
