Lesson Aims:
O1 – To consolidate the rules for the comparative and superlative of adjectives
O2 – To have students understand and use the comparative and superlative correctly
O3 – To give practice in the grammar related to the topic
O4 – To give the students practice in the vocabulary related to transportation
Student’s competences:
C1 – To recognise the comparative and superlative
C2 – To form the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives
C3 – To correctly use “than” and “as...as” in sentences
By the end of the lesson, the students will have been able to:
 Use the comparative and superlative form of the adjectives in sentences of their own
 Form correct sentences using “than” and “as…as”
 Orally compare two pictures using simple sentences

CONTENTS
 Activity 1: Greetings
Aim: to create a pleasant atmosphere
Timing: 3 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss
Procedure: Greeting (T-Ss, Ss-T) and checking the attendance; the teacher also asks the students
about their day so far.
 Activity 2: Checking homework
Aim: To see if students have done their homework and correct if it is the case
Timing: 5 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: The teacher asks a few of the students to read their homework. She gives feedback
and makes suggestions if needed.
 Activity 3: Brainstorming
Aim: To reintroduce the students to the lesson’s topic
Timing: 10 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: The teacher asks the students about their day. She introduces the topic using a series
of questions (i.e. How are you feeling today? How did you get to school today? How long did it
take?). She employs the help of a student and gives them the worksheets pertaining to the day’s
lesson. She asks them to look at a series of pictures and asks them to name the modes of
transport they see and complete the sentences so that they make sense. They are given about 5
minutes for this task after which the teacher checks their answers orally.

 Activity 4: Revising
Aim: To have the students revise the rules for the comparative and superlative.
Timing: 15 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: The teacher explains that they are going to look at a worksheet related to a
previously studied part of grammar. She tells them that they have around 5 minutes to look at the
questions and try and complete the worksheet by themselves. After the allotted time has passed,
the teacher and students go through it together, correcting where necessary.
 Activity 5
Aim: To give further practice into identifying and using the comparative and superlative
Timing: 10 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T, S-S
Procedure: The teacher asks the students to prepare for a short kahoot game and asks them to
make teams of two. She gives them the necessary instructions and the code for the game. At the
end of the game the top three groups will be awarded one point.

 Activity 6
Aim: To give further practice into using the comparative
Timing: 10 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: The teacher asks the students to look at the two exercises that are left on their
worksheets and explains the task. After five minutes the teacher checks their answers and
corrects them if necessary.

Assigning homework:
The teacher assigns the homework for next time and thanks them for their participation in class.
