April  20,  2022

Ms.  Taylor  Garber  has  asked  me  to  write  a  letter  of  recommendation  and  I  am
happy  to  do  so.  Taylor  has  served  as  a  Michigan  State  University  Intern
Teacher  at  Pleasantview  Elementary  School  in  Eastpointe,  Michigan,  from
August  2021  through  April  2022.    During  that  time  she  has  worked  in  in
planning,  instruction,  and  student  management  in  a  lively  third  grade
classroom  under  the  mentorship  of  Mrs.  Tricia  Dickens.    Her  lesson
development,  positive  and  productive  teaching  style  have  proven  a  good  fit  for
the  school  community.    She  has  learned  to  customize  instructional  plans  to
meet  the  needs  of  diverse  students,  analyze  assessment  data  to  drive
instruction,  communicate  with  parents  and  stakeholders,  and  collaborate  with
teacher  teams  in  Professional  Learning  Communities.    She  continues  to  learn
best  practices.
Some  of  Taylor’s  strengths  include:
• supplementing  lessons  and  activities  tailored  to  her  classroom  and  to
individual  students
• building  relationships  with  students  and  customizing  lessons  to  meet
student  interests  and  needs
• collaborating  with  teacher  groups  in  Professional  Learning  Communities
for  data  dialogues.
During  her  Internship,  she  and  her  teaching  peers  organized  an  after  school
Book  Club  for  third  graders  with  a  social  justice  theme  employing  Read-‐Alouds
and  Writers  Workshop.  The  Third  Grade  Book  Club  was  a  HUGE  success,  and
80%  of  the  entire  third  grade  population  at  the  school  took  part  in  this  after
school  activity,  which  spanned12  weeks,  culminating  in  a  Program  performed
by  the  students  for  the  Eastpointe  Community.    This  high  engagement  project
