Annoying Ways People Use Sources

In my opinion, the annoyances ranked from least to greatest, one being the most annoying, would
be:
1. Am I in the Right Movie?
2. Uncle Barry and His Encyclopedia of Useless Information
3. Armadillo Roadkill
4. I Can’t Find the Stupid Link
5. I Swear I Did Some Research
6. Dating Spider-man

To me these seem the most appropriate because it’s very hard to understand a sentence

when the tense fails to match up or is inconsistent throughout the composition. Additionally,

using tons of quotations seems like the writer is just using other individuals’ work and not adding

their own perspective or thoughts to a piece. These are my top two “annoyances,” but the other 4

do have their own issues as well, but as a student there are mistakes that everyone has

encountered. To professionals, these annoyances will vary, and some may be more irritating or

detrimental to others according to their profession. To a newspaper editor the order will most

likely be armadillo roadkill, I can’t find the stupid link, I swear I did some research, am I in the

right movie, Uncle Barry, and, finally, dating spider-man. I would assume that a newspaper

editor would focus on grammar to begin with and focus on citations because plagiarism is a very

important issue to avoid, especially if the article goes to the public. I believe that a newspaper

editor would find all of these extremely annoying and these are all the mistakes they would

intend to fix, but I think spider-man would be the least of his worries because the other

annoyances have more complications or consequences. In terms of a popular blogger, I would

believe that the order would begin with, Uncle Barry, am i in the right movie, armadillo roadkill,

dating spider-man, I swear I did some research, and I can’t find the stupid link. I think bloggers

intent is to write day to day material, therefore, using too much information from an outside

source would take away from the blog itself. Bloggers are meant to be original and I believe that

their foundation is their own opinion, so having so many quotations from another source would

take away from their writing. Another annoyance near the top of the list of a popular blogger

would have to be, am I in the right movie? A piece is supposed to be consistent and have their

voice extended beyond a quotation, therefore having grammatically incorrect sentences, I

believe, would throw off their audience. I ranked, “I can’t find the stupid link” as last place, due

to the fact that bloggers wouldn’t have as many citations compared to a rhetorical analysis or

investigative essay. I do think that this would be an issue no matter the situation, but due to the

principle of blogging, I don’t find this to be as significant or frequent. When ranking this as

another college student, I believe they would have the same ranking as me because we are still

are in a situation where we make stupid mistakes and value writing citations and coming up with

ideas more so, than even remotely thinking about grammatically incorrect sentences. I ranked all

of these depending on occupation, but that doesn’t mean that all of these annoyances don’t carry

their own values. When deciding what to rank, based on the profession, I felt that I placed these

in order of their frequency to occur, rather than their actual significance.
