Ethernet Management Interface IP-20G


• FibeAir IP-20G contains two FE management interfaces, which connect to a single RJ-45 physical
connector on the front panel (MGMT).

• If the user only needs to use a single management interface, a standard Cat5 RJ-45 cable (straight or
cross) can be connected to the MGMT interface.
• To access both management interfaces, a special 2 x FE splitter cable can be ordered from Ceragon.

• Port Status LED – The LED for management interface 1 is located on the upper left of the MGMT
interface. The LED for management interface 2 is located on the upper right of the MGMT interface.

Exercise
• CLI or Telnet (hyper-terminal, telnet, putty, ZOC etc. for connection to
your element)

PREPARATION BEFORE START:

• Open latest "User Guide" for IP-20 with CLI commands


• Recommendation is to use two PCs:

PC #1 use for management of your NE


PC #2 use for seeking of commands in User Guide (in your PC)

CLI Exercise
1. Connect to your Element via CLI or Telnet
2. Set system to default settings - Factory reset (system will restart automatically)
a) use keyboard "Q" to jump back to root menu
b) for execution of command you have to type whole command "yes"
c) What IP address are you going to use for connection after restart?
c) How much does it take to restart unit? (use ping command ping 192.168.1.x -t)
3. Show IP address of your element
a) What is the IP address? mask? gateway after Factory reset?
4. Change IP address of your element to: 192.168.1. actual IP address +10 (10 to 20 etc.)
5. Check IP address back + mask + gateway
6. Reconnect to original IP address via Telnet (or CLI)
7. Set "Unit Info" - Set in Unit Parameters - "System name" of your group (Group 1 for an example)
a) Unit info is menu where you can place address of side, GPS coordinates, contact person, phone numbers etc.
b) Are you able to check Unit info via CLI? (try login via web and check correct settings via web GUI)
c) check Unit Info - platform management unit-status
8. Check IF - Manager for actual ports configuration - Show all Interface
a) how many ports are by default enabled for management?
9. Enable second port for management
a)check IF - MANAGER if second port is up
10. Set correct date and time for your system
a)Setup exactly the same time as in your PC
b) correct time settings was very important for old software versions upgrade (7.0)
11. Show all interfaces status (if-manager)
a) this command will help you to see status of all interfaces and ports in system
12. Show all slots status in "shelf-manager"
