What is Google Sites?

Google Sites is a free web application for creating websites. You can develop the
website by yourself or collaborate with others to create the content of the pages. Google
uses the information shared by sites and apps to deliver our services, maintain and
improve them, develop new services, measure the effectiveness of advertising, protect
against fraud, abuse, and personalize content and ads you see on Google.
With Google Sites you can use its cloud-based capability to centralize your
presentations, documents, spreadsheets, slideshows, videos, and more--which is good
for business collaboration requirements. The tool is currently complete free and
integrates with other Google services such as:
 Google Calendar
 Google Maps
 Google Docs
How to use Google Sites to share information?
You can create a website to share info with others. On a computer, open new
Google Sites. In the bottom right, click Create. Add content to your site. To publish your
changes, at the top right, click Publish.

How do students use Google Sites?

Students can:
 Create an ePortfolio of their personal, professional, and academic work.
 Collaborate with other students around the world to share ideas, create content
and communicate ideas.
 Assemble, present, and share information online for documenting academic
growth, career evaluation, and course preparation.
 Maintain and expand individual ePortfolios over the duration of a class and
beyond university years.
Advantages of using Google Sites
Google has many advantages. Having a google site is very beneficial for many
reasons. Google has taken many steps to provide quick and easy access to work and
collaboration. Google allows members of the same group to collaborate in real-time
together on a project from different locations making group projects a breeze. One cool
tool of google sites is the automatic save feature. When typing or working on a project,
whenever you are finished typing, Google automatically saves the work so there is no
more worrying about forgetting to save work or the threat of a computer crashing, losing
all of the work.
