Safety
1. Work safety symbol
Apart from the work safety instructions in this operating manual, the general as well
as the local safety and accident prevention regulations must be observed.
2. “Attention” notice
ATTENTION
This symbol is in this operating manual allocated to those notes, regulations and
guidelines which deal with damage to or destruction of the machines as a result of
inexpert operation.
• The machine has been built in accordance with the latest state of technology and
is safe and reliable. If, however, it is inexpertly operated by uninstructed persons, it
may cause grave injury and damage.
• The machine is intended exclusively for the application agreed with the ATTENTION
manufacturer and for the specified material to be handled. If this is not observed,
the manufacturer will not accept liability for any resulting damage or injury.
• If changes from the original condition are found, these must be reported by the ATTENTION
operator to the appropriate office.
• Conversions and alterations of the machine on the operator’s own initiative, which
could impair the machine’s safety are not permitted. ATTENTION
• All maintenance work on the machine must in principle only be carried out while
the machine is at rest. Before starting work, ensure that the machine cannot be
switched on accidentally or by unauthorized persons.
• The machine must never be operated without the guards of the drive units. Danger
of injury!

• When handling the machine or its components, care must be taken that the ATTENTION
handling equipment is only attached at the points of the machine provided for this
purpose. (See chapter “Handling”).
• The spring elements must not be touched while the machine is running.
Danger of injury!
• Never put a hand into the free spaces between firmly anchored and vibrating
components while the machine is running! In particular during the starting phase of
the machine there is a danger of injury through greater vibration amplitudes!

General Notes
• Only with the aid of this operating manual is it possible to start up, operate
and maintain the machine properly and safely.
• The operating manual should always be kept ready to hand for the operator
near the machine.
• This operating manual only covers the machine specified on the cover sheet
and their intended use.
1.1. General
With a vibration trough feeder type FUF products are conveyed by directed
vibrations through electro-mechanical drive. These FUF-feeders mainly consist of
conveyor trough, saddle, spring elements and an unbalance vibrator which vibrates
the conveyor trough. By these vibrations the product changes into small discharge
lines (micro discharge principle). This provides a constant flow rate.
1.3. Construction
A type FUF vibratory feeder consists of the following main elements:

The vibratory motions are generated by rotating unbalance masses. The diagram on
the next page shows the four extreme positions of the unbalance masses and the
resulting direction of force.
1.5. Drives
Via these elements the static forces - consisting of machine weight and conveyed
material load - are transmitted to the supporting structure. These flexible elements
reduce the dynamic alternating forces produced by the vibratory motion to the
residual values shown in the drawing.
Storage
• Until its final installation, the machine should as far as possible be stored in closed
rooms.
• If the machine is stored in the open, it must be covered with tarpaulins open
underneath, so that any condensate can drain off.
• In the case of seaworthy packing of the machine, this packing must not be
damaged or opened during transit and storage.
• Electrical connection appliances must always be stored in closed, dry and frostfree
rooms.
• Spring elements supplied loose with the machine must be stored dry.
• The machine to be stored must be left in the assembly state as supplied. The ATTENTION
manufacturer does not accept liability for damage resulting from wrong reassembly
of the machine!
• To ensure correct storage of the machine, any symbols which may have been
applied to the packing concerning storage and handling must also be observed!
Transport
• To avoid danger to persons and damage of the machine, the machine must be
handled with proper care! Apart from the instructions below, the general as well as
the local safety and accident prevention regulations must be observed.
ATTENTION
• The symbols applied to the machine packaging for handling and storage must be
observed:
• If the machine is handled by crane, it must only be carried with handling gear
suitable for the purpose.
• If the machine is packaged, the handling gear must only be attached at the points
marked.
• The machine itself must only be carried at the hitching points provided (hitching
eyes). ATTENTION
• The side walls or attached parts of the machine must not be compressed by ATTENTION
obliquely pulling ropes or chains!
• Machines must not be placed on the protective hoods (guards) of the drives!
ATTENTION
Assembly
1. General instructions
The manufacturer does not accept liability for the consequences of wrong assembly! ATTENTION
The supports for the spring elements of the vibratory feeder must be cleaned to
remove any dirt. After that, place the spring elements onto the supports.
If the drives, possibly present material outfeeds and/or covers participating in the
vibration had to be removed for transit, these must be installed as shown in the
drawing. On connection flanges the possibly present protective varnish must be
ATTENTION
removed. Only original fixing elements must be used for the assembly! All fixing
screws must be tightened to the special torque.(See chapter 11 “Drive” and table no.
1 for tightening torques on page 02 in this chapter).
The vibratory feeder must only be placed on the spring elements with suitable
handling gear! The spring elements must with the assembled machine be positioned
vertically and without offset. If an offset exists between the upper and lower end of
the spring element, the lower base must be realigned. After that the supports
(bases) are screwed tight with the correct torque. (See table no. 1 on page 02 of this
chapter).
6. Fitting of sleeves
Attach the destined collars at the material in- and outlets. The collars have to
mounted according their construction type. Collars made of elastic material are to be
attached without puckers. Multi-layered compensators have to be installed with an
allowance, to ensure that the run-out movements of the vibrating screens can be
absorbed certainly without any stress of collars which may deduct resp. delete the
them. Due to the plurality of the compensators it may be necessary to contact the
manufacturer in case of doubt. (Allowance see table no. 2).

8. Stop bumpers
If stop bumpers are provided between stationary components and the feeder, the
distance and position given in the installation drawing must be set.
The height of the spring elements subjected to the weight of the vibratory feeder
must be checked. The minimum permissible height for the loaded feeder is shown in
the installation drawing.
For the electrical connection of the unbalance vibrators the instructions given in
chapter 11 “Drive” must be observed.

Starting up
• The voltage and frequency shown on the rating plates of the unbalance vibrators ATTENTION
must correspond to the customer-side voltage and frequency!
• All covers have to closed and all protective devices have to be mounted, otherwise
the machine cannot be put into operation.
• After the electrical connection of the unbalance vibrators, the direction of rotation of
the unbalance masses must be checked.
To check this, one guard of the unbalance vibrators each must be removed after ATTENTION
switching the vibratory feeder off and securing it against accidental or unauthorized
switching on. Now the direction of rotation is visible if the unbalance vibrators are
briefly switched on (approx. 2-3 seconds).
If direction of rotation is not contrarotating, one of the two unbalance vibrators must
have its polarity reversed.
After that the guards must be installed again - with the vibratory feeder switched off
and secured against switching on. (See chapter 4 “Construction and operation FUF”
as well as chapter 11 “Drive”).
• The vibratory feeder is now first switched on to try it out. During the starting and
stopping phase the vibration amplitudes may be much greater than the operational
vibration amplitude!
When using an electrical motor brake, the deceleration time and amplitudes can be
reduced to a minimum. (See chapter 12 “Connected appliance”).
• If knocking or grinding noises should occur during the trial run, this may have the
following causes:
Remedy: Tighten all screw connections with the specified tightening torques.
(See table no. 1 in chapter 7).

• The operational vibration amplitude of the vibratory feeder has been set in the
works. It is in individual cases possible that the handling rate of the feeder exceeds
the agreed value. If this has a deleterious effect on downstream machines or
arrangements, the conveying rate must be regulated by reducing the centrifugal ATTENTION
force.
The centrifugal force set in the works must only be increased after prior
consultation of the manufacturer!
If the conveying rate is controlled by a frequency converter, the latter must be set
to its minimum value. (See chapter 12 “Connected appliance”).
• The height of the product layer in vibratory feeders without stationary guide panels
must not exceed 80 % of the clear height.
• The minimum height of the spring elements given in the installation drawing must
not be undershoot even when the vibratory feeder is fully loaded.
• Should the handling rate of the vibratory feeder be insufficient, the centrifugal force
or when using a frequency converter the frequency must be increased. (See
chapter 11 “Drive” and chapter 12 “Connected appliance”).
Neither value must however be changed beyond the works setting! ATTENTION

Operation
1. Important notes
• For the operation of the vibratory feeder, not only this operating manual, but also
the local safety and accident prevention regulations must be observed. (See also ATTENTION
chapter 2 “Safety”).
• Faults must only be corrected with the vibratory feeder switched off and secured
against accidental starting!
• After switching off the vibratory feeder must only be switched on again at a total ATTENTION
standstill!
• If the temperature of the material being handled exceeds 80° C, the vibratory ATTENTION
feeder must always be run empty before leaving it to standstill.
• It has to be provided that no product falls out of the machine during operation.
Safety measures have to be provided by the customer.
• During conveying abrasive or dust can occur. In case of toxic products the
user/operator has to carry out the necessary cleaning of the discharged air and to
take the necessary measurements for protection of the staff.

2. Faults
All up- and downstream machines have to be turned off. They have to be protected
against unauthorized switch-on.
In case of malfunction it has to be provided that no product can fall out of the

In case of a rest of the vibratory feeder for more than three months the following has
to be observed:
• If the vibratory feeder is stored in the open, it must be covered (see chapter 5
“Storage”).
• If the vibratory feeder is taken into operation again, chapter 8 “Starting up FUF”
has to be observed.

Maintenance
1. Important notes
Maintenance and repair work must only be carried out with the vibratory feeder
switched off and secured against accidental starting. (See also chapter 2 “Safety”).
ATTENTION
The vibratory feeder must be regularly serviced. Inadequate maintenance can lead ATTENTION
to faults or damage with consequent downtimes and repair costs.

• Fixing screws for unbalance vibrators, spring elements and wear linings must be
retightened with the specified torques after 50 hours of operation. (See chapter 7
“Assembly FUF”).
• Damaged fixing and safety elements must be replaced by parts of the same
construction. (See chapter 14 “Spare parts”).
• Check the spring elements. Damaged spring elements must be replaced by others
of the same construction. (See chapter 14 “Spare parts”).
• Cup seals, expansion joints and seals such as on covers or flaps must be checked.
Damaged parts must be replaced by others of the same construction. (See chapter
14 “Spare parts”).
• The vibratory feeder will be damaged when operated with worn-out wear parts!
• The vibratory feeder must be checked for damage to the welded construction. If
damage is found, the manufacturer must be consulted. ATTENTION

1. Safety
This symbol is in this operating manual allocated to those safety instructions which
deal with danger to the health and life of persons.
These instructions must be strictly observed. Please pass this document to,the
operators of the unbalance vibrator.
Apart from the work safety instructions in this operating manual, the general as well
as the local safety and accident prevention regulations must be observed.
ATTENTION
This symbol is in this operating manual allocated to those notes, regulations and
guidelines which deal with damage to or destruction of the unbalance vibrator as a
result of inexpert operation.
It must be ensured that every person charged with the installation, operation and
maintenance of the unbalance vibrator has read and understood this operating
manual before commencing work.
The unbalance vibrator has been built in accordance with the latest state of
technology and is safe and reliable. If, however, it is inexpertly operated by
uninstructed persons, it may cause grave injury and damage.
The unbalance vibrator ist intended exclusively for the application agreed with the
manufacturer. If this is not observed, the manufacturer will not accept liability for any
resulting damage or injury.
The unbalance vibrator must only be operated in its original condition, except for the
setting of centrifugal force. If changes from the original condition are found, these
must be reported by the operator to the appropriate office.

All maintenance and setting work on the unbalance vibrator must in principle only be
carried at rest. Before starting work, ensure that the unbalance vibrator cannot be
switched on accidentally or by unauthorized persons.
The unbalance vibrator must never be operated without the covers of the centrifugal
weights. Danger of injury!
If the insulation of the connection cable is damaged or if the cover of the terminal
box is missing, there is a life-threatening danger of electrocution! Such defects must
be corrected immediately!
2. General notes
Only with the aid of this operating manual it is possible to install, set, operate and
maintain the unbalance vibrator properly and safely.
The manufacturer recommends that the operating manual is read through carefully,
since he does notaccept liability fordamage resulting from non-observance of this
operating manual.
The operating manual should always be kept ready to hand for the operator.
Changes in design and construction, for the purpose of improving the unbalance
vibrator, are reserved.
The characteristics power consumption [kW], rated current [A], rated voltage
[V], working moment [kgcm] and rated speed [1/min] are given on the rating
plate or type plate of the d rive.

With the unbalance vibrator switched on, the rotary motion of the rotor and its
centrifugal weights generates a centrifugal force. This causes the machine
connected to the unbalance vibrator to vibrate.
The sound pressure level can be taken from the data sheet of the unbalance motor.
The sound pressure level - at nominal speed and operating temperature has been
determined on a testing stand by the manufacturer.

4. Storage
Until its final installation, the unbalance vibrator should as far as possible be stored
in closed rooms.
If the unbalance vibrator is stored in the open, it must be covered with tarpaulins
open underneath, so that any condensate can drain off. In the case seaworthy
packing of the unbalance vibrator, this packing must not be damaged or opened
during transit and storage
The unbalance vibrator must only be placed on its foot surfaces! ATTENTION
To protect against corrosion, the foot surfaces are greased before dispatch from the
works. This grease coating must only be removed immediately before installation..
5. Handling
To avoid danger to persons and damage of the unbalance vibrator, the unbalance
vibrator must be handled with proper care! Apart from the instructions below, the
general as well as the local safety and accident prevention regulations must be
observed.
If the unbalance vibrator is packaged, the handling gear must only be attached at the
points marked. The symbols for handling - if any - have to be observed:
The unbalance vibrator itself must only be carried at the hitching eyes provided at
the stator. Small unbalance vibrators must be carried by using a rope fixed at the
stator.
The unbalance vibrator must only be placed on its foot surfaces! ATTENTION
Transit damage must always be reported to the manufacturer. Care has to be taken ATTENTION
that the foot surfaces and covers are in a non-damaged condition.

6. Installation
The unbalance vibrator must be installed by qualified personnel. The manufacturer
ATTENTION
does not accept any responsibility for faulty installation!
The foot support surfaces of the unbalance vibrator must be metallically bright and
free from grease, paint or other impurities.
The support surfaces for the unbalance vibrator on the machine must be plane
parallel, have a maximum peak-to-valley height of Rz 25 µm and be metallically
bright as well as being free from dirt and grease.
The machine part on which the unbalance motor is mounted (e. g. motor cross- ATTENTION
member, motor base plate), must be sufficiently strong, to eliminate the possibility of
deformation (bending, torsion) between the foot contact surfaces of the unbalance
vibrator as a result of the occuring centrifugal forces. The unbalance vibrator is not a
load-bearing component!
Thre thread size of the fixing screws, of quality class 8.8, and the required tightening
torques are given in the above table. Self-locking nuts of quality class 8 must be
used. One washer according to DIN 125, made at least of St-50, must be placed
under the screw head and nut.
A minimum distance
must be bemaintained!
After the first 50 hours of operation the unbalance vibrator, the fixing screws must be ATTENTION
retightened to the correct tightening torque.
The centrifugal weights of an unbalance vibrator must be set identically at both ATTENTION
sides. The setting can be read off with % - scales provided on the centrifugal
weights.

7. Electrical connection
Electrical connection of unbalanced mass vibration generators should be carried out
only by authorised persons who have been suitably trained. When making the
electrical connection of the unbalanced mass vibration generator the (German) VDE
0100 and VDE 0113 regulations must be observed. If the unbalanced mass vibration
generator is to be exported the electrical regulations of the respective country are to
be observed.
For the JVA unbalanced mass vibration generator the regulations of the (German)
„Directive for Electrical Equipment in Potentially Explosive Areas (Elex V)” generally
apply. For installation of electrical equipment in areas endangered through potential
gas explosion “IEC 60070.14” applies and in areas endangered through potential
dust explosions “IEC 61421-1 and –2” are applicable.
Before electrically connecting the unbalanced mass vibration generator the existing
mains voltage and frequency should be compared with the values given on the
rating plate of the unbalanced mass vibration generator. Correct connection of the
terminals in the terminal box should be checked (see circuit diagram in the terminal
box).
The unbalanced mass vibration generators are wired internally in such a way that
with the same connection of phases L1-L2-L3 to terminals U1-V1-W1 this gives the
same direction of rotation for all unbalanced mass vibration generators – from the
same viewpoint looking towards the cable entry.

Before starting up the vibrating machine the correct opposed direction of rotation of
the unbalanced mass vibration generators must be checked, as follows:
With the vibrating machine switched off and secured against unauthorised switching
on, one protective cover of each of the unbalanced mass vibration generators is to
be removed. Then when the unbalanced mass vibration generators are switched on
briefly (approx. 2 – 3 secs) the direction of rotation can be seen. This should be
counter-rotating.
If the direction of rotation is not counter-rotating the poles of one of the two
unbalanced mass vibration generators must be reversed. With the unbalanced mass
vibration generators switched off and secured against unauthorised switching on, the
protective covers should then be refitted.
Check with the vibrating machine running. The direction of vibration – as seen in the
direction of conveyance – must be linear.

For the connection a highly elastic, mechanically robust hose line is to be provided
as connecting line between the unbalanced mass vibration generator and the first
distribution box. This should have a temperature resistance of at least 90°C. The
minimum required nominal cross-section according to DIN 57100, part 523, and the
connection cross-section for guaranteeing reliable operation are given in the data
sheet of the unbalanced mass vibration generator.
In the terminal box the individual conductors should be led from the cable entry to
the terminal board over as short a distance as possible in order to avoid damage to
the conductors through vibration. The hose line should be secured against twisting
and pulling in the cable entry. At the same time care should be taken that the hose
line outside diameter is correct (for inside diameter of the cable gland see data
sheet).
For connecting the required shielded cable the existing standard cable gland must ATTENTION
be removed by the customer and replaced by a suitable cable gland, e.g. type
SHVE.
Recommendations for suitable cable glands and sizes of shielded cable are given in
ATTENTION
the table „Connection Data”, in section 12. It should be noted that allocations of
diameters of cables (inside and outside diameter) and cable gland (sealing cone and
sleeve) are subject to narrow tolerances.
After connecting the supply cable the terminal box cover should be replaced. In
doing so care should be taken that the rubber seal fits correctly. The fixing screws
should be firmly tightened.
The supply cable of every unbalanced mass vibration generator must sag freely
ATTENTION
bewteen the first fixed point and the unbalanced mass vibration generator, to such
an extent that there is no tension of the cable in the starting and running down
phases. Its length should be calculated so that there is no self-movement. The
supply cable must not strike or rub against anything.
If, contrary to this urgent recommendation, the two vibrators are connected to a
distribution box, each with a detachable plug connection, suitable protection of the
vibrating machine should be provided which prevents operation with only one
unbalanced mass vibration generator. The manufacturer has provided a protection
unit (cable fault relay) which should be installed for every unbalanced mass vibration
generator.

If the unbalance vibrator is operated by a frequency converter the maximum speed ATTENTION
or the maximum frequency must not exceed the nominal speed given on the rating
plate. The frequency converter must be limited so that the frequency specified on the
rating plate cannot be exceeded. The parameter block of the frequency converter
must be switched on.
The unbalance vibrator is equipped with a PTC Thermistor, which can be connected
to the drive JV for temperature monitoring and must be connected with the drive
JVA.

The unbalance vibrator in combination with a d.c. injection brake in the ex-area must
be set so that the maximum current is not higher than the break-away starting
current of the drive (see rating plate). The braking time must be set so that the d.c.
injection brake is switched off approx. 1 sec. after machine standstill. In the case of
multi-engine operation (conveying trough, sieve machine, etc.) the stator windings
must be switched in series via the braking contactor for braking action.
The frequency converter and the d.c. injection brake must be set up in ex-free areas.
All setting operations on the unbalance vibrator must in principle only be carried out
at rest. Before starting this work, ensure that the unbalance vibrator cannot be
switched on accidentally or by unauthorized persons.
The two protective covers of the unbalanced mass vibration generator should be
removed so that the centrifugal weights under these are easily accessible.
The set centrifugal force can be read off on a % scale which is fitted on the inner
centrifugal weights. The setting range is between 0% and 100%.
For setting each outer centrifugal weight (A) can be turned against the inner
centrifugal weight (B) after unscrewing the locking screw (C).

On both sides of the unbalanced mass vibration generator the centrifugal weights
should be set to the required value (which can be read off on the % scale). The set
values must be the same on both sides.
The clamping screws (C) of the centrifugal weights (A) must be tightened with a
torque as specified in the table below.

Before replacing the protective covers the set values of the centrfugal weights
should be rechecked to ensure that they are the same.
The protective covers are then replaced, and correct fitting of the rubber seals
checked. The fixing screws are hand tight, i.e. they should be tightened with the
torque MA given in the table.

9. Maintenance
The unbalance vibrator must be regularly serviced. Inadequate maintenance can ATTENTION
lead to faults or damage with consequent downtimes and repair costs. Correct
maintenance ensures safety and reliability.
9.2. Lubrication
The unbalance vibrator is lubricated in the works with the grease specified in the
data sheet.
Unbalance vibrators of type JV/JVA are designed for regreasing; lubricating nipples
are provided on the bearing end plates for this purpose.
Regreasing should as far as possible be carried out while the unbalance vibrator is
still at its operating temperature; after which the vibrator should be started up again
and run for about a further 30 minutes. This procedure is particularly advisable when
regreasing is carried out at ambient temperatures below 0° C
Regreasing should if possible only be carried out with the grease specified in the ATTENTION
data sheet; taking into account item 9.2.13, other greases may, however, also be
used according to the following list.

A lithium complex saponified grease must be used for unbalanced mass vibration
generators. If special greases are used for special application conditions
relubricating must be carried out only with the same grease type.
Regreasing intervals and grease quantities are given in the data sheet. Regreasing
should be carried out at least once yearly.

The regreasing intervals given in the data sheet are based on a bearing bracket
surface temperature of up to 85°C.
For the first regreasing after commissioning, double the grease quantity of that given
in the data sheet should be used.
If longer standstill times are planned (more than 4 – 5 months) regreasing should be
carried out before shutting down.
When using an unbalanaced mass vibration generator which has been out of
operation for a long time (standby unbalanced mass vibration generator) regreasing
should be carried out shortly after starting up.
Roller bearings which have been cleaned or replaced should be greased with the
grease quantity given in the data sheet.
After the first 50 operating hours the fixing screws must be retightened with the ATTENTION
tightening torque specified in the data sheet. The fixing screws of the protective
covers and of the terminal box cover must also be retightened.
The connecting cable must be examined for wear and breakages regularly and
replaced if necessary.
Faulty operation in the form of changed noise development can be corrected with
the fault tracing chart below.
For the JVA unbalanced mass vibration generator the maximum surface
temperature on the stator outside housing must not exceed 120°C in continuous
operation.

spare parts the functioning of the unbalance vibrators may be adversely affected
and/or the safety impaired! The manufacturer does not accept responsibility for
damage arising from the use of non-original spare parts!

Unbalanced mass vibration generators of type JV/JVA can be protected with a PTC
resistor (thermal motor protection) against unacceptable temperature increase and
destruction of the winding in case of a fault through overloaoding, increased ambient
temperature, intermittent operation, high switching frequency and phase failure.
The nominal responding temperature (NRT) of the PTC resistor should be fixed
according to the respective prevailing operating conditions
Basically unbalanced mass vibration generators of type JV/JVA in the TMS design
are provided with 130°C NRT PTC resistors.
Pole changing may be carried out only in one direction of rotation or with opposed
direction of rotation from a standstill.
Starting up is guaranteed for all speeds at the rated voltage. Details given in the data
sheet should be observed.

4 PREFACE
The information contained in this manual refers exclusively to JB
brake units.
5 PURPOSE
JB brake units are intended to brake manufacturers' unbalanced
motors or three-phase motors used in conjunction with vibrating
machineries.
6 OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The JB brake unit operates fully electronically. A thyristor in a phase
controlled system generates an adjustable direct current in conjunction
with the electronic control logic. The control logic ensures that the
direct current does not reach the stator, through a braking contactor,
until the motor has been switched off. Said direct current creates a
static magnetic field, which counters the rotary movement of the rotor.
Automatic detection of standstill ends the braking process.
Operating sequence:
(One motor application; on the basis of the connection diagram in the appendix):
If the brake unit is live from the mains, the LED "P" (mains) will light.
Contact 3/4 is broken and n2/n4 made. When the motor starts,
contactor K2 is locked. The brake unit receives the "motor on" signal
from the motor contactor through connection 6/7. LED "M" (motor
on) thus also lights. Contact n2/n4 (= restart lockout) breaks
simultaneously.
When the motor stops, contactor K2 drops out. The contact at 6/7
breaks. LED "M" goes out. After a short delay, contact 3/4 closes
and LED "B" (braking on) lights. Contactor K1 picks up and the
braking current flows through the motor winding, initiating braking.
LED "S" (standstill display) lights during the braking process until the
motor comes to a standstill. The braking process will be ended,
unless the braking time has been extended with trimming
potentiometer "T". Contact 3/4 breaks, contactor K1 drops out and
LED "B" goes out. Contact n2/n4 is then made again. Only now is it
possible to restart the motor.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
9 COMMISSIONING
• Start the motor and let it warm up. LEDs "P" and "M" must light.
• Switch off the motor. LED "M" will go out. LED "B" will light. The
braking contactor will pick up. Braking has commenced.
• Increase the braking current from zero until the motor is distinctly
braked, by turning trimming potentiometer "I" slowly in a clockwise
direction. Ensure that the maximum braking current of the brake
unit is not exceeded by observing the readings on the ammeter.
(With JB26/..., JB40/..., JB52/... units:
The braking current can be read off the bar display on the control
board. 1 bar = 10% of the maximum braking current IBr).
Note: A good braking effect can usually be obtained at the ½ (12
o'clock) position of trimming potentiometer "I".
• LED "S" (standstill monitoring) will light while the braking current is
flowing and the motor is still turning. LED "S" will go out at
approximately 10% of the nominal speed. The braking process
ends as soon as LED "S" goes out and any subsequent braking
time set with trimming potentiometer "T" (up to 20 seconds) has
elapsed. LED "B" will go out and the braking contactor will drop out.
Adjustment of the braking current is now completed.
10 MAINTENANCE
The JB brake unit is largely maintenance free.
However, under very dusty conditions, regular cleaning is essential.

4 PRELIMINARY REMARKS
The information given in these instructions is intended only for the
CONTISEN2 machine monitoring unit.
It is essential that you read these instructions before installation and
commissioning.
When using the CONTISEN2 machine monitoring unit the limit
values given in the technical data must be observed.
The guarantee of the manufacturer for drives / machines does not
extend to deficiencies caused through unauthorised use or incorrect
use of the machine monitoring unit.
The instructions are divided into individual sections as given in the
contents.
Before working with the CONTISEN2 machine monitoring unit
section 1 „Electrical Safety“ and section 2 „Instructions regarding
EMVG law“ must be read.
Before using the drive / machine, or before carrying out specific
operational adjustments, it is essential that the user makes himself
familiar with the contents of these instructions.

5 APPLICATION PURPOSE
The CONTISEN2 machine monitoring unit is used for operational
control of vibration installations.
The CONTISEN2 machine monitoring unit consists of components
JSEN1,2,3 or ..HP (vibration sensor), JMWW-I/U (measuring value
transformer) and EASY (evaluation unit) .
Apart from pure „machine running“ signalling, an independent
adjustable threshold value can be interrogated for max. monitoring
of the amplitude of vibration.
6 MODE OF OPERATION
The EASY evaluation unit works together with the vibration sensor
JSEN1,2,3 or ..HP as the CONTISEN2 machine monitoring unit.

8 COMMISSIONING
The machine monitoring unit has not been set to a definite vibration
machine before leaving the works. Thus balancing must be carried
out during commissioning.
Lethal external voltage may still be applied to the
relay terminals of the EASY even when the unit is
switched off. Ensure that the equipment is dead.
8.2 SWITCHING ON
Bevor you switch on the machine monitoring unit the points
described under 8.1 must have been carried out.
The CONTISEN2 machine monitoring unit (I1 or I2) should be
switched on at the same time as switching on the machine (for
switching on the operating voltage an auxiliary contact of the motor
main contactor can, for example, be used.
Switch on machine and machine monitoring unit.
A lethal external voltage may now still be applied to
the relay terminals of the EASY unit.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:
Uncontrolled adjustment of the setting elements can
! lead to malfunctioning of the unit.
Before carrying out changes in settings, the following
points must be read carefully:
The EASY
evaluation unit has 4 menu keys and 4 P-keys
(cursor keys) for setting the threshold values.
Arrangement of the keys is given in the photo
above.
For the other settings of the analogue values A2, A3 and A4, the
same procedure applies as described above, whereby when
balancing the analogue values A2 and A4 the machine must be
operated with maximum power.
The EASY evaluation unit has 4 relays with floating, normally open
(no) contacts (2 operating contacts and 2 fault contacts).

• The lining can have the following functions: -wear protection of the machine
• The condition of the lining and its attachment must be checked regularly.
Damaged parts must be replaced if necessary. (See chapter 10
"Maintenance"). Operation with worn linings will darnage the machine!
• Only genuine original fixing elements must be used for fixing. Screwed
connections must be tightened with the specified torques. (See chapter 7
"Assembly").
• It must be ensured that the lining is in contact with its base over its complete
surface. Any dirt adhering to the inside of the machine must be removed. If
linings are screwed or clamped in, these surfaces may have to be cleaned from
rust and primed. If linings are glued in, these surfaces must be metallically
bright before applying the adhesive. Note instructions for using the adhesive -
see leaflet in packaging or instructions on the tin.

• It is recommended to keep the components shown in the enclosed spare parts list
in stock. A reserve of of spare parts prevents lengthy downtimes!
• Only genuine original parts must be used for replacement. The use of parts from
other sources may lead to damage. ATTENTION
• For ordering spare parts, the following data, which are shown on the cover page of
this manual or in the spare parts list, are required:
- machine no.
- spare parts list no.
- part no.
- designation
- quantity
• The item numbers given in the spare parts list correspond to those in the spare
parts drawing.
