Philosophy of Education

I believe the central theme of education is to prepare students to be productive members of

society and to understand the potential they have. Through building positive relationships and
a strong learning environment, students will have plenty of opportunities to learn, not only the
content that is presented to them. But they will also learn the importance of education, and the
true potential they hold to become a difference maker in the world, and the role they can take
on as they contribute to making the world a better place. By building good, strong relationships
with students I will learn more about who they are as a person. Finding interests and common
ground will be a way I can motivate students and tailor my teaching to their personal beliefs.
This will allow me to influence students and help them to find their full potential. I believe
having good relationships with students is the most important part about running a good
classroom. By doing this a strong safe learning environment will naturally develop which will
allow for students to express themselves and learn more about who they are and the goals they
have. The most crucial part to learning is being able to create the willingness to learn. By
possessing strong relationships and a safe learning environment, the motivation to learn will
follow. In my classroom I will create and assign projects and lessons that align with student
interests and relevant events that are happening in life. This will help students find their
purpose in life, as well as, find passion for things that they care about. As a teacher I will guide
students through life as a role model. My greatest role models in life are teachers and life
mentors that motivated me to want what was best for me. My teachers held me accountable
for the things I wanted to achieve which ultimately motivated me to do my best work and help
others. Being a role model will create opportunities to influence students to seek out the best
version of themselves and prepare them for their life going forward. My goal as a teacher is to
influence students to make good decisions, be a good person, and help others, all while
teaching these students the necessary traits to be a successful student. I appreciated and
looked up to my teachers in such a high regard that I couldn’t imagine not giving back and
creating the same experiences for my future students. This ideology came from my personal
experiences in school, sports, and life, more specifically from my baseball coach. My coach, who
was also a teacher, influenced me to work my hardest and to always do right by others. I aspire
to be a role model and mentor to any and all of my students, just as I had experienced through
my time in school. Without my baseball coach I would not be who I am or be in the position I
am today. These ideas are why I pursued a career in education and have a passion to create a
positive influence in the lives of children I will teach or coach.
