The harmful effects of online 

abuse
The Internet has become a fully integrated part of our society, touching many aspects of our
business and personal lives. Online abuse is defined as deliberately attempting to upset someone
through Internet; It can happen via numerous ways. With all different forms of social media, whether
it be Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, cyber bullying can occur. Victims that are involved in online
abuse will feel disinterested, dissatisfied and suicidal.

First, cyber bullying can cause someone to feel halfhearted in their lives. They loss all interest
in studying. For instance, victims of online abuse are harder to pay full attention in their studies.
They might be influenced by the problem and their concentration is distracted. Besides, they will feel
disinterested in their social life. This is due to the depression caused to them. As they feel helpless,
they do not want to let others know their thoughts, their feelings and their stories. Furthermore, they
will also feel bored in their hobbies. Because of the mental attack faced, they loss their patience in
doing their favourite activities. They are afraid of getting criticized. Therefore, online abuse will
bring disinterest in life to the victims.

Other than that, online abuse will lead to dissatisfaction in the sufferers. They are not gratified
with who they are. Targets of cyber bullying begin to doubt their worth and value. In addition, they
tend to feel unhappy about their appearance. They are fear of looking themselves in front of a
mirror; they do not want to be judged as they loss self-confidence. Moreover, victims of online
abuse are also dissatisfied with their attitudes. They always considered longer before taking an
action. As a result, people who are abused through Internet will have dissatisfaction in themselves.

Last but not least, cyber bullying increases the risk of suicide. This is because online abuse
will make a person lack of confident. They have no bravery to do everything in lives as they are
under judgement and criticism. Besides, they also have depression by attacking by others. They feel
hurt and have nobody to pour out their hearts. Plus, cyber bullying will cause them to feel
powerless. Victims involved in this issue will feel that their ideas are not accepted by the society.
They will then feel hopeless and have thought of suicide. Actually, targets of online abuse might
suicide due to their negative thoughts.

In conclusion, online abuse causes disinterest, dissatisfaction and suicide in the targets or
victims. Cyber bullying should be stopped through different measures as it has very damaging
consequences to individuals. Policies should also be put in place to ensure that technology is used
responsibly. School management should put in place ways of identifying, preventing and
responding to cyber crimes in schools. Parents should also take up the responsibilities of protecting
their children.
