1. What is your personal definition of family?

 I have two definitions of family. First, family is a group of people where I got my

genes and blood from, they are the people whom I have even tho I were not

existing yet, they are the closest people in my heart and they are the people whom

I can’t easily get rid of because of the love I have for them. Second, Family could

not be only a form of blood-related individuals. I have a lot of non-blood related

family here in CPAC, I laugh with them, tell my problems which I can’t tell to my

biological family, and they are the people who makes my life colorful especially

because I am far away from home. I love them also and I can’t get rid of them

easily because they are very dear to me.

2. What type (structure, authority, decent & residence) of family do you have? Support your

answer.

 STRUCTURE: We have an extended family because we have my niece and

nephew living with us. My sisters are working far from home while their

husbands are also living far from them, so my parents decided to take care of my

niece and nephew so they would have adults who would take care of then full

time.
 AUTHORITY: Our family is an Egalitarian type of authority because both of my

parents share power in leading the family.

 DESCENT: Our ancestry is being traced and determined through both of my

father and my mother, this is why we are belong to Bilineal Family.

 RESIDENCE: After my parents got married my mother decided to reside on my

father’s house, however it changed as the time passes by. Therefore, I call my

family residence as Bilocal at the beginning. In today’s status we are classified as

neolocal family for we are independent from our grandparents.
