Instructions:
• On the top of the answer script, write (a) Name (b) Roll Number (c) Question Number (d) Data Set Number.
• Write page number on each page.
• Highlight the final answer.
• Answers should be brief and to the point. Irrelevant answer may lead to negative marking.
• All symbols carry usual meaning. Assume standard value for any missing data.

The single-line diagram of a three bus power system is as shown below. Per-unit impedance of each circuit
of the double-circuit line 1-2 is given in Annexure 1. Full-line charging admittance of the transmission line (ȳ120 ),
reactance of the generator and that of the transformer are given in per-unit on a common MVA base. Off-nominal
turn ratio of the regulating transformer is as marked. Bus 1 is a voltage controlled bus.
(a) If V̄1 = 1.0∠0o pu and V̄2 = 0.98∠ − 2o pu, calculate active and reactive power drawn by the load at bus 3.
(b) If the active power demand at bus 3 is increased by 20% keeping the reactive power same as above,
determine voltage magnitude and angle of all buses using two iterations of FDLF analysis. Take the initial
value of voltages equal to the voltages obtained in 1(a). Take bus 1 as reference.
(c) Positive and negative sequence reactance of the generator are same as xg , zero sequence and neutral
reactances are 0.04 pu, 0.02 pu, respectively. Zero sequence impedance of the transmission line is 2.5
(1)
times of the positive sequence impedance (z̄12 ). Positive, negative and zero sequence reactance of the
transformer are same as xt . Neutral point of the load is solidly grounded.
A double-line-to-ground fault with z̄f = j0.005 pu occurs at bus 3. Ignoring charging admittance of the
transmission line and off-nominal turn ratio of the transformer, find sequence voltages of bus 2. Assume
pre-fault voltage same as given in 1(a).
