Safety instructions
2 Safety instructions
Read the related operating instructions carefully and completely before working at
the product. If necessary, request it from Rexroth.
DANGER
Risk of injury due to vehicles that are still running!
Working at vehicles that are still running constitutes a risk to life and body. The
works described in this document may only be carried out after vehicles have
been shut down.
ff Secure the vehicle according to the manufacturer's and/or operator's instruc-
tions.
ff Ensure that the drive motor and all force-transmitting components and ports
(electric, pneumatic, hydraulic) are switched off according to the manufac-
turer's instructions and cannot be switched on again.
ff Ensure that the vehicle has been completely hydraulically unloaded (depres-
surized) according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Safety instructions
WARNING
Risk of fire!
Hydraulic fluid is easily inflammable.
ff Keep open fire and sources of ignition away from the hitch control valve.
Risk of injury!
You may get injured when working at the hitch control valve.
ff Wear safety boots with steel caps.
ff Wear protective gloves against cuts.
Risk of burning!
During operation, the hitch control valve may even get so hot that you may burn
yourself.
ff Allow the hitch control valve to cool down sufficiently before touching it.
ff Wear heat-resistant protective clothing, e.g. gloves.

Cleaning •• Clean the hitch control valve from dirt and loose foreign bodies.
•• Do not use cleaning agents that
–– May attack plastics or change their properties
–– May attack metals or react with them
–– Can leave residues behind.
•• Suitable cleaning agents are plastic brushes and hydraulic oil. Do not use
metal brushes.
•• In case of contamination, clean bores using a brush tool with plastic hair and
hydraulic oil.
•• Do not clean the disassembled hitch control valve with a pressure washer.
Housing and parts •• You may only use original Rexroth parts.
•• After disassembly, elastic seal elements must be exchanged against new ones.
•• Housings and parts must be clean and undamaged.
•• Damaged housings and parts must no longer be used.
•• Any reprocessing of threads is not admissible.
•• Any reprocessing of bores is not admissible.
•• Protect the bores and threads against the deposition of dirt.
Flange surfaces and •• Adhesion forces may act between the flange areas in the disassembly.
sealing surfaces •• Remove contamination using a whetstone and clean the surface using an oil-
soaked cleaning cloth.
•• Surfaces with punch marks or signs of wear in the sealing surface must no
longer be used.
•• Any reprocessing of the sealing surfaces is not admissible.
Bench vise •• Protective brackets with hard rubber are to be used. Sealing and flange
surfaces must not be damaged.

The single-acting EHR (electronic hydraulic hitch control) controls the oil flow at
the hydraulic work port A in proportion to the solenoid current.
The single-acting working cylinder of the lifting gear is connected to work port A.
The oil volume at work port A is mechanically regulated by the non-return valve
on the EHR23 version also by the pressure-relief valve and can only be
changed by electrically actuating the proportional solenoids or concerned.
The EHR5 is an individual valve or a flange valve.
The EHR23 is a control valve of plate construction that can be combined in a hitch
control valve.
In the vehicle, the following functions are controlled by applying the necessary
deflection of the working cylinder:
•• Power control
•• Position control
•• Pressure control
•• Vibration damping

4.3.2 Function
Pressure compensator
The pressure compensator is used for load compensation and controls neutral
circulation.
OC pressure compensator
The OC pressure compensator is load-dependent and feeds of excess flow from
the pump at connection P via connection R2 or N1.
LS pressure compensator
The LS pressure compensator is load-dependent and controls the connection
plate or pump via the LS connection Y, ensuring that there is flow at connection P.
Non-return valve
The non-return valve prevents the oil volume from flowing back to work port A
via the lifting valve and via the pressure compensator .
Pressure relief valve (PRV)
The PRV limits the pressure at connection A.
Excess oil volume at connection A is fed off via connection R.
If more oil flow is fed to the pressure relief valve than it can feed off, the
system pressure in work port A will rise above the pressure set for the
pressurerelief valve .

Lowering assembly group An electronic control uses a pulse-width-modulated voltage signal with
superimposed dither frequency to actuate the proportional solenoid / .
The proportional solenoid is adjusted in proportion to the associated lowering
valve insert , allowing oil to flow from connection A to connection R.
The lowering set unit defines the start of oil flow from connection A to
connection R depending on the solenoid current at the proportional solenoid .
