“Forks up ASU” is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to support the educational
development of orphans in foreign nations. Our organization’s goal is to partner with various
Teacher’s colleges to identify candidates that we will sponsor to travel to and provide the
education needs of kids in various orphanages across the globe.

How are we funded - Currently we have a $15,000 endowment. The non-profit will be reaching
out to the community, ASU alumni, local NGO for donations. Additionally, the non-profit is
looking at possibly partnering with ASU/Tempe city for an annual “Forks Up ASU” “One
Teacher can ignite every possibility” 5k race, with the proceeds going to support the “Forks Up
ASU” mission.

Proposal –

“Forks Up ASU” will fund the travel, boarding, miscellaneous expenses to send a teacher to
Pattaya Thailand to teach English to orphaned Thai children. The orphanage has several open
requests for volunteers.

Forks Up ASU will locate a nearby residence for the ASU Student Teacher to stay at.
Additionally, a stipend will be provided to cover food, transportation, and miscellaneous
expenses.

Forks Up ASU is asking for the Mary Lou Fulton Teacher’s College to advertise, identify and
screen possible candidates. Most ideal candidate is able to speak Thai.

Aside from administrative expenses needed to identify and recommend a student teacher there
will be no additional expenses incurred by the teacher’s college or ASU.

According to the orphanage website, they are looking for:


English teacher to teach basic English - 5-10 preschool kid’s weekdays
(Mid-May to September/November to February)
English teacher to teach basic English - 10-15 school age kids
(March-April/October) 3-4 Weeks

Additionally asking for someone that can teach dancing, music, sports, handicrafts, etc. (school-
age kids)

Basic qualifications: 18 years old, can devote 3-4 weeks.

Requirements:

A statement explaining why the volunteer wishes to volunteer, with preferred dates.
CV/Resume with contact details
3 letters of recommendation, will be verified
A police criminal record check

Can further discuss and negotiated any further documents/forms/identification to be provided by


the student/Forks Up ASU/ASU.

*There were additional requirements for Thai residents.
