Discussion

Through my making of both Project Network Diagrams and a Gantt Chart, I found that both was

useful for different reasons. The Project Network Diagrams were great for understanding

sequencing and allowed for a second person to enter the project. With a Two-Person PND, I

found that each person had a better idea of what their tasks were, in which order, than if they had

perhaps used a Gantt Chart. The Gantt Chart, on the other hand, was beneficial towards

understanding timelines and deadlines. I found that because Gantt charts have a time axis, they

allowed for the reader to understand the amount of time needed to complete each task. Regarding

personal systems, I found that when delegating to my roommate, he may have valued how much

time was required to complete each task because he was less experienced with the process.

However, somebody who needed a refresher on the recipe, such as me, would perhaps value a
timeline of tasks. Overall, I find that Gantt Charts and Personal Network Diagrams both have a

place in task processes because of how different people value different information. Like my

example above, my differing uses of diagrams could help my team, myself and my roommate,

create tacos in a more efficient manner. Understanding this, it is obvious that collaboration can

only benefit one’s project in the planning phase. Ensuring that one’s team understand their tasks

and how to do them will allow for a more streamlined project process for the project manager.
