Type (check one):

☐ Lab ☐ Project ☐ Group Work ☐ Test/Quiz ☐ HW ☐ Essay ☐ Concert ☐ Contest ☐ Other
In complete sentences, describe what you did to complete this assignment/activity:
To complete this activity, I had to choose a world problem that would be the focus of my project. I
decided to do ocean pollution because I think it was the most interesting and a more common problem.
Then, I had to use databases to collect information about the problem. I took notes on NoodleTools, which
a video tutorial from the librarian, Mrs. Chatel, helped me create an account. I had to take 12 facts at least,
but since some of my facts could be not good enough to use, I created 20 notecards in total just in case. I
organized them so it was easier to keep track of. I organized by the problems humans created including oil
spills, overfishing, and global warming. When I was done taking them all, I had to decide what type of
project I was going to create. Some of my options were a poster, a trifold, a Powerpoint, or a video. I
chose Powerpoint because it was only digital and I could copy and paste easily, plus design was simple
and images didn’t need printing. I read over my notes, edited them into a paragraph form, and pasted them
into my Powerpoint. After I was done, I had to also create a rubric. I had control over half of my project
which was 50 points out of 100, but my teacher, Mrs. Shankin, had to proofread it. I still had more things
to do, I had to create a portfolio to reflect on my project which explained everything I did. Last, I checked
the rubric the teacher had, and made sure I had completed all of the things on the rubric and I checked my
own and did the same to check if everything was there.

This assignment/activity showcases my (check one):

☐ Academic Skills ☐ Personal Management Skills ☐ Teamwork Skills

In complete sentences, explain why this assignment/activity demonstrates the skill checked above:

This activity demonstrates my personal management skills because it was controlled very little by the
teacher and I made my own choices of what I thought would be a good project. We had free choice of
what world problem to do, what information to collect, and how to present and that would show decision
making skills. I also think that this project demonstrates personal management because I had to take it
home and complete it sometimes, and I knew when I could use extra time to catch up or get something
done. I showed time management because I had five weeks to complete this project and in that time I had
to research, put it on NoodleTools and put it onto my Powerpoint presentation. Last, I did everything
completely on my own and had to do twice the amount of notecards that others in groups had to, and I
think that shows I can overcome challenges.

Choose one of the following questions to answer about your work (check one):
☐ What makes this work one of your best?
☐ What problems did you encounter as you were working and how did you overcome them?
☐ What are some of the strengths and/or weaknesses of this work?
☐ Why should you share this work with others?
☐ How could you improve this work?
In at least three complete sentences, write a detailed response to the question you chose above:

I think this work is one of my best because I have accomplished a lot in this project. I did more than
what was required, and all the facts I have typed, rephrased, put into paragraphs, copied and pasted and
put into my Powerpoint I think were really good. Another thing that makes this work one of the best was
that I had organized my notecards in NoodleTools and in my Powerpoint so that it was clear to look at but
it was also creative at the same time changing the background color and the word style, but making sure
the style didn’t get into the way of making the words not legible. I think that my rubric was good and it
covered everything, and I think that my portfolio explains a lot about what I did — that’s why I think this
project is one of my best.
