The following document describes the simplest method for extracting DMT
from the root bark of Mimosa hostilis. This type of extraction is called
an "STB extraction".
It is intended to educate readers, and the author is not responsible for

When working with chemicals, it is always good to be careful, read the
warnings on the packaging, and be familiar with the chemistry of these
compounds. It is also good to have protective gloves, glasses and a

For extraction you will need:

- 100 grams of root bark of the Mimosa hostilis plant

- 75-100 grams of caustic soda (chemical formula NaOH)
- 300 milliliters of solvent, it can be petroleum ether, zippo lighter
fluid, hexane or heptane
- 1 liter of distilled / demineralized water
- 1 large glass bottle with a volume of at least 1 liter
- 2 other small glass containers
- 1 closed glass bottle
- 1 funnel
- 1 Pro pipette, any glass device can be used with which you can
accurately extract the solvent.
- 1 glass baking dish with a flat bottom and a lid
- razors
- paper towels
- small glass jar with a lid
- 100 grams of citric acid

- The main material in this extraction is the Mimosa hostillis root bark,
it can be purchased online under the name "Mimosa hostilis, jurema preta,
calumbi, tepezcohuite or Mimosa tenuiflora".
It is legally sold for the production of soap and animal skin coloring,
the pages where you can safely order Mimosa hostilis are www.colour444.de
or www.primebark.com.
There are many other sources, but with these two I had the best
experience. Buy mimosa powder rather then chips, because this way the
extraction is the fastest. I recommend buying 1 kilogram of MHRB powder.
Chips can be chopped down and powdered in a big food processor.

- Caustic soda can be purchased in hardware stores, agricultural stores

or in supermarkets as a drain cleaner, buy it only in its pure form. If
it is not available in person, you can order it online.
It should not have any additives, such as pieces of aluminum or anything
like that, NaOH comes in the form of white beads that absorb moisture
into themselves and corrode metals and organic matter.

- The solvents must be one of the ones listed above, DMT and fats from
Mimosa hostilis are dissolved mainly in hydrocarbons with straight chains
that have 4-7 carbon atoms.
DMT is less soluble in heptane, but other components from Mimiosa
hostilis are almost insoluble in it, so it's useful for recrystallizing
and producing cleaner DMT through recrystallization when you have already
extracted it.
These solvents evaporate and can easily ignite, so work in rooms without
open flames and sources of sparks. These solvents are generally only
mildly toxic, although they have a strong odor.
Before using the solvent, drop a few drops on a glass surface, after the
solvent completely evaporates check the glass surface, if there is a big
residual stain left on the glass do not use that solvent, find another
one and test it again, those residues can make DMT impure.
Solvents can be purchased at stores that sell paint supplies, zippo
lighter fluid can be purchased at kiosks, get the liquid in black
packaging.
It is best to buy 1 liter of petroleum ether.

- Distilled water is easily available in all stores

- The glass bottle should have thick walls so that it does not burst when
the temperature changes and does not break if you accidentally tap it on
the table. Glass bottles that contained mineral water work best.

- Smaller glass jars should have a "beak" for easy spilling, try Pyrex
cookware because it is very tough and resistant to chemicals.

- The glass bottle is used to store the solvent until we are ready for
DMT crystallization.

- We need a funnel to put the Mimosa hostilis powder in the bottle. You
can make an improvised funnel by cutting a top part from a bottle or from
paper.
Make sure that the funnel fits your glass bottle and that it is wide
enough that mimosa powder does not get stuck in it.
- The Pro pipette can be purchased in stores with laboratory equipment or
ordered online, if you can't find the glassware, you can use a plastic
injection with a needle.
Plastic dissolves slowly in these solvents, so it is not recommended that
the solvent lingers for a while in the injection.

- The glass vessel is used for DMT crystallization, it should have a flat
bottom so that it is easier to collect the crystal DMT from it.

- The razor blades are used to scrape and collect crystal DMT.

- Paper towels are here if you spill water or the NaOH solution.

- Small glass containers are used to store crystal DMT, they must be
hermetically sealed. They can be purchased in art stores.

- Citric acid is used to neutralize caustic soda when we completely

complete the extraction, after neutralization, the mixture is harmless to
nature.

1st Step: Prepare all of your ingredients, weigh out the amount shown in
the introduction, do not measure the solvent before you use, that way you
limit its evaporation.

2nd Step: Pour 100 grams of Mimosa hostilis into a 1-liter bottle with a
funnel, pour it slowly, as it can easily clog your funnel.

3rd Step: Pour 500 milliliters of distilled water into the bottle, seal
the bottle and mix its contents. Part of the Mimosa hostilis will stick
to the bottom, over time, this powder is also gets moist and gets mixed
in the solution.

4th Step: Dissolve 75-100 grams of NaOH in 250 milliliters of distilled

water, the amount depends on your package of caustic soda, you do not
have to use an exact amount. In case you have to weigh out the NaOH,
weigh it out in a glass container.
Caustic soda very quickly absorbs moisture from the air and then becomes
corrosive, glass is resistant to NaOH. Then slowly add the caustic soda
in portions to the water.
The dissolution of NaOH releases a lot of heat, so it must be added
slowly to the water with stirring. You can mix the solution with a glass
stick, or you can lift the glass container and move it slightly in a
circular motion.
With a concentrated NaOH solution, you have to be very careful, because
it turns fats in your skin into soap and slowly destroys the tissues in
your skin and mucous membranes if it comes into contact with them.
This is why it is extremely important to protect your eyes and proceed
with caution. In case of skin contact, wipe the affected spot with a
paper towel, then keep it under running water for 5 minutes.
The skin is resistant to alkalies and only after 2-3 minutes of contact
they begin to cause real harm. If the NaOH comes into contact with your
eyes, immediately rinse the eyes with cold water for as long as possible
and then visit a doctor.

5th Step: Carefully add the NaOH solution to the main bottle after it
becomes transparent, pay attention to the colour change of Mimosa
hostilis and the white percipitate (DMT) in the places where the NaOH
solution is mixed with the mimosa.
Close the bottle and shake the contents vigorously. If the NaOH solution
is spilled, simply soak the solution up with a paper towel.

6th Step: Add more water to the bottle (about 100 milliliters), you
should leave about 150 milliliters of space for the solvent and citric
acid that you will use at the end.

7th Step: Seal the bottle, shake the contents and let the bottle rest for
30-60 minutes and shake it every 15 minutes, during this period the
Mimosa hostilis fibers break down and DMT is released into the water.

8th Step: Measure 30-50 milliliters of your solvent and add it to the
main bottle. DMT is in the form of a free base, because the pH of the
solution is alkaline (above 7). Free bases are highly soluble in non-
polar solvents (petroleum ether etc.) and poorly soluble in polar
solvents (water).
We can use this property to separate DMT from other unwanted compounds
from the Mimosa hostilis solution. After adding the solvent into the
glass bottle we can cap the bottle and start gently rotating it so that
the solvent comes in contact with all parts of the solution.
Avoid intense shaking, as it can form an emulsion that takes a long time
to separate, in case you do not see a layer of solvent after mixing, do
not worry, after an hour the layers will separate.
The layers are separated because they have different densities, an
emulsion occurs when two liquids of different densities are mixed. Leave
the solvent in the bottle for at least 10 minutes so DMT can dissolve
into it, mix the solution several times during this time.
Now it's time to put the bottle in a warm water bath if you want to do
8th and 9th step less times. Heat is optional, but improves the
solubility of DMT in the solvent and by using heat you have to use less
solvent.
In case you use heat, do not use an open flame heater under any
circumstances, purchase an electric heater or heat a heat up a large pot
of water before working with the solvent, the water can be about 80°C
and be sure to loosen the stopper on the bottle when you heat it up to
avoid pressure buildup inside of it.

9th Step: After the emulsion settles, it's time to pull the solvent out
of the bottle, it's very important that you only suck out the top layer
of solvent and that you don't get any dirty water contained under the
solvent into the pipette.
The solvent is then moved to another glass vessel, which has water level
that is all the way up to a narrow bottleneck (I used an Erlenmeyers
flask), the water serves to flush any remaining dirty water that might
have passed on from the main bottle, if the tip of your pipette is dirty
just insert the pipette into the water and rinse it by drawing and
draining the water through it.
Then we pipette the solvent into the last glass jar with a beak and
decant (pour) the solvent into the glass dish or a bottle. The dirty
water that can be found in trace amounts in solvent sinks to the bottom
of the container with a beak and by decanting the solvent we make sure
that no water gets into the final container.
We repeat this process as many times as we want, with each extraction we
get less DMT, most of the DMT is extracted in the first 3 extractions,
but it is worth repeating this process 6-8 times. With experience, you
will know when you need to stop extracting.
The more times you extract DMT, the longer the solvent should remain in
the bottle, solvent can be left for several days in the bottle near the
end.

10th Step: DMT crystallization, you have two options. An easier option is
to simply pour the solvent into a glass baking dish with a flat bottom
and leave it overnight on your terrace or balcony to slowly evaporate.
The crystallization is complete when all of the solvent has evaporated,
and when you no longer smell the petroleum ether in the jar. With this
method, you get the full range of alkaloids and fats from Mimosa
hostilis.
Another way is to percipitate DMT in the freezer. For this method, you
must first get the solvent that is oversaturated with DMT at room
temperature, if your solvent is milky and cloudy, this means it is
oversaturated and ready to freeze.
If it is not then you need to evaporate a part of the solvent, in case
you didn't use heat, you should evaporate about half the volume of the
solvent before it becomes milky, it's best to use your glass dish and a
fan for this step.
After the solvent becomes milky, pour it or leave it in your glass baking
dish, close it and place it in the freezer, the lower the temperature,
the more DMT gets percipitated out of the solvent.
After 12-24 hours, the container is removed from the freezer, the solvent
is decanted and can be reused for extraction, the container is left at
room temperature for half an hour to allow the remaining solvent to
evaporate, and the DMT is drained into a glass bottle and sealed.
The first method gives beautiful large yellow-orange crystals, and the
second method gives "cleaner" tiny white-yellow crystals.

11th Step: Recrystallization, this step is completely optional, and many

people prefer yellow "non-pure crystals" because they give an experience
that is stronger and is more colorful.
Recrystallization is carried out by dissolving DMT in the minimum amount
of hot solvent needed to dissolve all the crystals, it is best to use
heptane, but other solvents also serve this purpose well.
After dissolving the crystals, filter the solution through a filter paper
or a paper napkin into a glass bottle and pour it back into the baking
dish, close it and place it back in the freezer.
With each recrystallization, a certain percentage of DMT is left behind
in the solvent, but it becomes cleaner because we remove fat and other
compounds from the crystals and they get left in the solvent. I recommend
this technique only to people who have sensitive lungs, because purer DMT
is easier to consume.

12th Step: Neutralization, once you finish pulling all of the DMT from
the main bottle into the bottle, pour 100 grams of citric acid, if the
citric acid does not fit into the bottle, you can pour some of the
solution into another glass jar.
After neutralization, the solution is no longer harmful to nature, and
you can pour it down a drain.

Useful information:

- Mimosa hostilis is used in Mexico for the production of soap, it has

powerful antioxidant effects.

- DMT is an acronym of N, N-dimethyltryptamine, a molecule that is very

similar to seratonin and psilocin, the active ingredient in magic
mushrooms.

- A part of a living plant had to be sacrificed for you to have this

psychedelic experience, so I ask you to respect this molecule and the
nature around you.

- DMT is mainly consumed by vaporizing it in doses of 30-50mg, my

favorite method is to use an electric cigarette and e-liquid, you can
dissolve 1 gram of DMT in 1-2 milliliters of menthol flavoured e-liquid
without nicotine.
You put DMT in a small shot glass that sits in a hot water bath, add e-
liquid to it with a small injection, mix the two compounds together, and
fill the tank of an electric cigarette with this mixture, this method is
also the most discrete and you can safely travel with DMT this way.
The e-cigarette must have at least 40 watts of power and have a coil
resistance of less than 1 ohm. DMT can also be placed between dry menthol
leaves or other inert plants and smoked in a bong.

- Another method of consumption is in the form of pharmahuasca, which

requires a plant-based MAO inhibitor, such as alkaloids from Syrian rue
(Peganum harmala) or the ayahuasca vine (Banisteriopsis caapi), their
extracts are called harmala HCl and emits a bright strong blue light
under ultraviolet light.
In case you use the Syrian rue seeds, make a tea from 2-5 grams of
crushed seeds, the tea is very bitter. In case you are using the
ayahuasca vine, tea is made from 25 or more grams, which is brewed for 4
hours in water with a small amount of lemon juice. If using Harmala HCl
dissolve 100-300mg in water.
The amount of DMT in pharmacuasca ranges between 20-200mg and you can
dissolve it in acidic water (water with lemon juice). It's always a good
idea to start with smaller doses and slowly increase them to see how your
body and mind respond.
First you should drink the MAOI component and only then half an hour
later drink the DMT component, you can also put Harmala HCl and DMT in a
capsule and consume them that way with a cup of water.

- MAO is an enzyme in the human body that destroys mono-amines, this

group includes seratonin, dopamine, norepinephrine and most
hallucinogenic compounds, including DMT.
Various molecules in nature can block the operation of this enzyme
operation. These MAO inhibitors act as healthy natural antidepressants
and can be consumed by themselves.

- MAO inhibitors should not be taken by people who are already taking
antidepressants or other pharmaceuticals, and it is also recommended to
avoid foods rich in tyramine if you consume MAO inhibitors.

- In the history of medicine, there have not been any deaths from DMT,
people pass out when they take doses 10 times less than those that can
harm the body.

- The last method of consumption is insuflation, chop up 200 mg of DMT

and sniff it inside both nostrils. I only recommend his method of
consumption if you can't smoke DMT.
Expect a strong burning sensation in your nose, you can minimize it by
blowing out your nose immediately after the experience has passed. The
experience begins within 5 minutes after insuflation and lasts about 30
minutes.

- DMT at room temperature can be stored for about a year before it begins
to lose its strength, in the refrigerator or freezer this time can be
multiplied many times.

- DMT does not become toxic with aging, in the worst case, it becomes
less active and turns to DMT oxide.

- At high temperature, DMT turns into a thick liquid, this liquid can be
recrystallized in the manner indicated in step 11 if it does not return
back to its original state.

- The experience of smoking DMT is one of the most intense experiences a

person can go through, the theory that I and many other people have is
that DMT shows us the places where we end up after death, and that we
actually live in a simulation.
Before you resist this idea, try smoking 50mg DMT a few times, and then
think again about these things.

- There are 3 main stages of the DMT experience: Waiting room, the tunnel
and the hyper space. The first two are unpleasant and disorienting, so
it's best to fully get into the experience.
- In hyperspace, people very often encounter entities / intelligent
beings who want to talk or interact with us. It is very important to pay
close attention to what they tell you and treat them with respect.
One of the theories in all of this is that in hyperspace, you're talking
to people who are dead and those who aren't yet born, and that you, too,
will join them one day.

- In hyperspace, it is possible to meet with doctors who will want to

perform procedures on you, calm down and let them do their work, all my
experiences with them have been had a positive efekt that lasts a long
time.

- We all have DMT in our bodies in small quantities, and science can't
explain the experience of DMT or why DMT is inside us.
