1. Course Objective:
The course is intended to focused on learning business, like the terminologies in business, abbreviations,
applied vocabulary in business world, technical, business writing, oral communication, reports, letters,
presentations, surveys, proposals, data analysis, facts, fact sheets, etc. Colloquial and informal standard and
formal; US and UK which are directly applied in Business world. Sentence structures: Noun and adjective
phrase, Causative verb, Usages of modals Infinitive, Gerund, Pre and post modifier used in Business.
Comparison between General English vs Business English with its essence and application. Case in
apposition, Ellipsis-Run on sentences, Affirmative agreement & negative agreement, Redundancy,
parallelism etc. Typography: Spelling related to the business terms, pronunciation, and punctuation.
Prefixes, Suffices, Roots, Combining forms of words, word origin derivatives, synonyms and antonyms, pair
words. Composition: Framing sentence with phrases and idioms, writing paragraph (on topics related to
the business world). Reading skill (Business Paper), Business and Organization related comprehension and
Case-study reading, after completing this course students will have confidence of getting familiarity with
other business courses throughout the BBA program. Empowering students with a good knowledge of
business with good communication skills in business English which is a need in the current Business
environment.
2. Course Summary (Course Contents):
Chapter: 01: Basic Sentence structures: Noun and verb phrase, adjective adverbs/ adverbial phrase
infinitive gerund, Pre and post modifier.
Chapter: 02: Varieties of sentences: Simple, Complex and Compound, Ellipsis-Run on sentences etc.
Chapter: 03: Typography: Spelling related to the business terms, pronunciation, and punctuation.
Chapter: 05: Composition: Framing sentence with phrases and idioms, writing paragraph (on topics
related to the business world), Business strategy, theory and Case study.
Chapter: 06: Reading skill, reading comprehension, Business Terminology, Vocabulary used in the
business world, Abbreviations.
Chapter: 07: Colloquial and informal standard and formal; US and UK.
3. Course Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course, the student will be able to :
CLO 1 conceptualize the basic Idea of Business English which are used in practical business
operation.
CLO 2 Differentiate the basic concept between English and Business English.
CLO 3 analyze the business environment relentlessly.
CLO 4 apply the business English in practical application of business.
CLO 5 identify the proper use of English in business environment.
6. Evaluation:
Grades will be calculated as per the university grading structure and individual student will be evaluated
based on the following criteria with respective weights.

4. Term Examination 70%
