Haemophilus species

The most common isolated species from cases of infective endocarditis is H parainfluenza .

H para influenza has also been isolated from other infections like meningitis , brain pelvic dental and
liver abscess , pneumonia , UTI and septicemia .

Aggregatibacter species

The most common species involved is A Actinomycetemcomitans , being the most common cause of
HACEK endocarditis .

A actinomycetemcomitans has aslo been isolated from patients with brain abscess , meningitis ,
endophthalmitis ,parotitis ,osteomyelitis , UTI, empyema , etc .

Cardiobacterium species

The most common species is C hominis .

It is the particular cause of endocarditis in patients with underlying valvular heart disease or with
prosthetic valve , commonly affecting the aortic valve

C valvarum has also been identified in association with endocarditis

Eikenella Corrodens

E corrodens is commomly recovered from sites of infection with other bacteremia

Commom sources of bacteremia being human bite wounds , endocarditis , soft tissue infections ,
osteomyelitis ,head and neck infections, respiratory infections ,chorioamnionitis , gynecological
infections associated with intra uterine devices , meningitis , brain abscesses , visceral abscesses

E corrodens is the least cause of HACEK endocarditis

Kingella Kingae

K kingae infections are commonly bone and joint infections , but also cause endocarditis , bacteremia
and meningitis

Invasive k kingae infections with bacteremia are associated with upper respiratory tract infections and
stomatitis .
