Read Aloud with Comprehension & Tier 2
Word
To begin the lesson the teacher will read “
Pete the Kitty” by James Dean. Tier two
word: Hiccup & Grumpy

Comprehension: Roll the Dice Chart and


answer the different comprehension questions
asked on the chart.

Writing
After reading our story I will have the student
write a sentence about what would you do as
Pete the Cat?

Student Reads
The student will read the story “A Wet Seal”
by Miss Kindergarten.

Word Study

Then to practice word blending of CVC words


the teacher and student will play “secret
words” . Students are given different pictures
of objects in Elkin and boxes. Students have
to sound out the object first to put in the pace
below. Then blend all the sounds together to
create the secret word.

Then the student will play search for the


pom-pom under the sight word game. The
teacher will have different plastic cups with
sight words on top. The student has to read all
the sight words to find the prize under one of
the cups.

Repeated Reading
Then the student will re- read the story “A
Wet Seal” by Miss Kindergarten.
