Read Aloud with Comprehension & Tier 2 Word


The student liked the book “Snakes” by Seymour Simon ,however, through
The teacher will read the book “Snakes” by Seymour Simon of an observation I don’t think it grabbed his attention well enough because he says
informational book about snakes. I will continue to read books he already knew most of the information presented in the book. Next time
related to the students interest to hopefully increase his desire and I’m hoping to find a fiction book with pictures that would keep a young
love for reading in the future. This book contains many tier 2 student's attention and might help him with using imagination that can come
words such as; motion, burrow, interesting, available, & struck. out of reading a story.

Student Reads
The student will read “Ted Bump” from Wilson 2 level This story was of a more reasonable challenge to the student often struggling
workbook, which is a 2.2A level passage. The student read this with CVCC words that he needs practice on, which was good practice for
one time through before moving to word building activity. him. I would say the student could keep moving up in challenging passages,
but this was a good start however and excited to see how he keeps
progressing.
Word building
Using magnetic sand I will have the student practice building the
following trick words: where, there, says, our, nothing, new, & The student struggled with the words “where, there, own, & our” overall the
own. student did a great job with the word building exercise and should have an
increased enjoyment of benign allowed to use the magnetic sad for this
lesson.
Repeated Reading & Comprehension
The student will then re-read “Ted Bump” and use a story map to The students' re-reading of the story “Ted Bump” was more fluency and

to fill in the story map despite it being a short story mainly because of lack of
interest in the story rather than poor reading ability.
Ted’s Bump

Ted got a bump on his leg and he felt sad. He went to

hunt for his mom. He got her in a flash.

“Ted, why do you limp? What is this welt” she said.

“I fell in the pond and hit my leg.” Ted said.

Mom then wet a cloth and held it on Ted’s leg. At last

Ted felt a grin on his lips. He said, “Mom, you are the

best!”
