Aparri Indigenous Art

Aparri residents go out to sea in boats that have been wonderfully decorated with indigenous and
other materials depicting the Aramang, or spider shrimp, a soft-shelled creature that is peculiar to
the tow. The Barangay Boat is used for an annual festival celebrated in honor of Saint Peter
Thelmo, the town’s patron saint. It is also considered as a thanksgiving celebration to saint for all
the good things that occurred in Aparri, as well as to have fun a nd take pride in the residents’
camaraderie. 

Every year, Aparri people head out to sea in their elaborately decorated boats for the Aramang
fluvial parade. A final program is frequently held to highlight the town's numerous products. The
Fluvial Parade, also known as "Barangayan Sadjay Sabangan," is one of the festival's highlights,
with local fishermen from the town's several coastal barangays taking part.
This is the aparri sign in pier were most locals and fishers visit, this sign is a good tourist spot for
taking a picture together with your family and friends. Apart from the tradition, the arts of aparri
also highlights the fisherfolk's artistic and creative aspects, since they are the ones who decorate
their boats with indigenous and other materials depicting Aramang (Nepatopalaemon tenuipes),
or spider shrimp. Aramang is a soft-shelled species found only in Aparri.
