Watch a Documentary of Current National Situation of Philippine Disaster and Risk Profile.
Make a reflection based on the documentary you choose to watch, it must answer the following
questions:

1. How disasters impact the life of the people affected?

- As I watch every video clip of the disaster I noticed how people’s faces had changed from before
the disaster. I can see on the videos that a natural disaster is a sudden occurrence that can
cause an accident or natural calamity, that results in significant damage or several deaths, A
large number of these calamities have been observed all throughout the world. Many deaths,
disabilities, and shelter damage were I see on every video clip, as well as tragedies of villages
being torn apart. A lot of Filipino’s have lost relatives, friends, homes, and possessions. Even if
these calamities cannot be prevented, it is critical to recognize their danger and consequences.

2. What mitigation can be done to lessen the impact of the disasters?
- Nature manifests itself in a variety of mild and forceful ways. We can observe how it can be
serene at times and then become fierce on us. Nature manifests itself in a variety of mild and
forceful ways. To minimize or lessen the danger of natural catastrophes to life, property,
economic and social activities, and natural resources are critical to the Decade's goal. We need
to control mechanisms such as zoning, land-use policies, and construction codes are required.
Avoiding development on flood-prone landslides, for example, and through planning and zoning
rules, can save money in the construction process while also reducing the loss of life and
damage to property and natural resources. The schools also serve as a shelter for victims of
disaster. School buildings, on the other hand, are frequently not designed to survive the
unanticipated physical consequences of natural disasters, and in many jurisdictions, they are
excluded from building requirements. Therefore, they are potential death traps for students or
victims within them.

3. What is your significant role as soon to be professional nurses during disasters?

- As a student nurse, community health nurses have a significant role to play in both disaster
preparedness and response, We nurses are knowledgeable of potential issues with patients and
environment. The nursing method of assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and
evaluating is used by us nurses. Furthermore, it is necessary to examine which businesses or
structures may be harmed in the event of a disaster. During disasters, We nurses will seek
treatment at hospitals for their symptoms, while others will turn to the public health system for
potential prophylaxis if indicated. In a hospital setting, nurses are seen as first receivers, and in a
public health setting, we are seen as first responders. Nurses are exposed to disasters in a
variety of ways during their work day. The tragedy could be a mass casualty scenario involving
multiple injured patients, in which the hospital and nurses' capacity to respond and treat is
exceeded.
