___________________________PART II: ARTIFACT REFLECTION_________________________

Date of Reflection: 3/22/22

Time of Reflection: 8:00pm
Goal: To revisit the pathway preview process and think of ways to make it
more informative for students and parents.
Level of Involvement: I was very involved in the planning and organizing of the event. I met
with half of the 8th grade class along with the counselors and
introduced myself and my role in the school. I also discussed pathway
and what completing a pathway means for students.
What I Learned: I learned that 8th graders feel far removed from high school and do not
see the importance of CTAE pathway. I also learned how to speak to a
group of young people without losing their attention.
Strengths and/or Challenges: I am good at relating to students. I can easily put myself in their shoes
and see the experience from their perspective. It was challenging to
supervise 8th middle school students when they are not comfortable
with me and I with them.
Response of Others: The 8th grade teachers and administrators gave good feedback on the
preview activity and how it helped them register 8th grade students for
9th grade classes when they had a better idea of what different classes
and pathways focused on.
Benefits/Contributions: I was helped by the 8th grade teachers and administrators in organizing
the event. I was also helped by our Work Based Learning coordinator
and other CTAE teachers who presented their content area to the 8 th

grade students.
Further Efforts: We will continue to host these types of events. We will also work
harder in the future to pull parents into this experience so they can
hear and see what is being offered to their students in regards to future
classes and pathway options.
