I. Introduction
"Music instruction can help a child's imagination blossom or kindle a lifelong love."
The possibilities are unlimited when you give a child new world to explore and challenges
to face. "Music education should not be a privilege reserved for a select few; it should be
an integral part of every child's world of possibilities," Hillary Clinton said. In this time of
pandemic, I believe that teaching music is one of the most important things to learn, to
provide them some knowledge about it for free at the same time to guide them on what
they want when it comes to art. In this report, I'll go over on what happened in weeks 6 and
7, where my goal in week 6 was to teach my participants how to play the chords D minor,
E minor, and A at the same time giving them a song to play with those chords, while in
week 7, we'll just go over everything we've done, changing chords, and playing the songs
in every chord that I taught them in every week.
II. Body
Week 6: Introducing D minor, E minor and A chords at the same time play a song
with those chords
My week six home-based activity program aims to teach my participants how to
play D minor, E minor and A chords. Since it’s three chord this week not the usual, which
is 2 chords per week, I take it slowly for them. We started first with a prayer to thank God
that we are safe and healthy then we proceed to the lesson. As usual they check every string
if they are tuned without my help. I present first every chord, how to put the fingers and
how to strum then after I demonstrate it, I gave them the ukulele so that both of them can
try it. At first, they are hesitant because it doesn’t sound well. I told them that they need to
fix their finger and the other string that is not related to the chord should not be hit. After
so many trials the sounds become good. Both of them are so happy on what they achieve.
Since I can’t find a song that is familiar with them with those chords, I decided to
teach them my favorite song which is you are my sunshine since it’s familiar with them.
The chords we will use is the chords that I taught them last week and last last week. This
will help them familiarize the chords at the same time to try different strumming depends
on what they want. If its single strum or D-D-U-U-D.

Week 7: Continues working on changing chords, practicing rhythms, and

accompanying songs.
Week seven of my home-based activity program was supposed to end and begin on
April 11-17, but prior to Holy Week, our professor opted to postpone it until April 18-24
so that we could rest. I'm delighted it happened because I've been so busy with our chorale
group for various events and services throughout Holy Week. When our professor
announces the implementation's rescheduling, I immediately tell my participants to relax,
take care of themselves, and meditate during this sacred week.
Fast-forward to the day of my week 7 implementation. Since we are done in basic
chords, and I don’t have a plan to teach them the difficult chords because it’s just a 10-
week implementation and they are just a beginner on playing ukulele. I decided to just
continue what we did for the past few weeks. I ask them first if it’s hard and both of them
answer “yes” but they said, “it is worth the pain and difficulties daw”. After that we jam
together, they are playing the ukulele while I’m the one who sang all the songs they are
playing. Then on the last part I gave them a post assessment wherein to play D and A minor
3 times as fast as they can and change into C and A 3 times as fast as they can. Luckily my
cousin played it well while my sister had a one mistake because she is not listening to my
instruction but she’s not mad at me hahaha. That brings me to the end of my
implementation. I ask them to join me for snacks before my cousin leaves because I just
returned from Legazpi when I started the implementation and bought some bread & biscuits
on the way back. I didn’t have a chance to take a picture of it since my family had gone
somewhere else.
For the next week activity, it will only be a discussion about my experiences on
learning ukulele, performing outside and inside the school.
