Introduction
Social Media or networks have brought the world closer and closer to people. The
world is at a stage where the utilization of social media has become a significant
tool of communication and access to information. Roughly, over 3.6 billion people
in the world in keeping with Statista use social media to update themselves and
communicate with family members or friends. It is a well-known fact that the use
of different social media sites or platforms has gained popularity amongst people,
regardless of their age or gender. However, there are positive and negative
impacts it has created to the world. But in this research proposal, we are going to
discuss about the positive impact it has created to the lives of individuals. Social
media has been useful tools in areas such as business, communication, education,
advertising, and has brought family and friends separated by long distances closer
to each other.

Statement of Research
The widely use of social media around the world is undeniable. The universe and
the people have embraced the use social media as a medium or means of
communication. Even though other people might think it have some negative
impacts. There are beliefs that the use of social media has created more harm
than good because it has led to cyber bullying, lack of parental care and social
media addiction. Moreover, it is also believed that the use of social media has
resulted in a lower focus on jobs, and children being inattentive to their course
work or studies. However, if social media platforms are used in a more efficient
way, people will only get to experience their positive impacts. Those who oppose
the use of social media might have some concrete arguments to support their
claims. But we should focus on the positive impacts it has created to individuals
and their daily lives.
Literature Review
With the high increase in use of social media sites in our day to day lives, there
have been numerous researches carried out by researchers in relation to the
positive impacts social media have created to the world. These researchers
support their argument that Social media have been a revelation to the planet
and have changed the lifetime of people and corporations (Hennig-Thurau et al.,
2010).

Social Media have widened the reach of people from all ages, their social status,
and gender (Qualman, 2012). Apart from social interactions or communication;
Social media is used by various entities, politicians, businesses, entertainment,
decisions or policy makers. This has changed the way we interact or communicate
with each other; it has brought everyone closer to each other. It has enabled
family and friends to communicate more frequently at less cost and pass on
information within minutes. It has enabled business and entrepreneurs to
communicate with their clients with ease, and advertise their business to the
outside world. The WWW might be a medium more in line with the fragmented
nature of the trendy marketplace for marketers; this has allowed businesses to
market their products online by using sales/deals advertisements on different
social media platforms (Sen et al., 1998).

Another positive impact of social media is that they brought awareness and
mindfulness into our children's lives and also in education. Social media give them
self-confidence and information awareness, educate them and give them access
to information within a matter of twinkles. Educators and advocates of new digital
literacies are confident that social networking encourages the development of
transferable technical and social skills of value in formal and informal learning
(Crook & Harrison, 2008). It is very easy to gain knowledge from others who are
experts and professionals via social media (Akram.W, Kumar.R, 2017).
Research Design
The research design of this proposal is aimed at the positive impact of social
media on the lives of individuals and society.

Research Aims and Objectives

The study of this research proposal is intended to determine the impact of social
media in our society. This is aim at examining the changes it has created in our
lives since it was introduced.

What effect does the emergence of social media has in your life?

What might have happen to the world if there were no social media?
