AgRO-BOTix

ABSTRACT
The major causes for decrease in food production is because of lagging interest in the
field of agriculture and high man power requirements. Hence the project is designed in order
to reduce the man power in the agricultural field. The objective of this project is to implement
automation in the field of agriculture which not only helps in man power reduction but also
creates interest with automation and farming. We are applying the idea of robotics
technology, which has become the dominant mode of modern automation. A bot is designed
to perform functions like planting, seeding, fertilizing, watering, spraying pesticides (if
required) and harvesting in the field. All these tasks are performed automatically when the
dimension of the field is provided along with the distance between each plant or seed to be
placed in the field. Various sensors are employed to collect information regarding falling of
seed, falling of fertilizer and presence of plant, seed, fertilizer in specified sockets, also to
identify the moisture content in the soil. The status of the bot is intimated periodically to the
user through the GSM module. The obstacle avoiding technique is also used for avoiding the
bot to travel over crops or uncertain area in the field. The obstacle avoiding technique is
automatically modified when the harvesting mode is select in the bot. The harvesting module
is not specifically designed but it can be used for general crops but not with grains.
Implementation of this bot in the agriculture field optimizes the man power requirement at
the various stages of crop cultivation.
