Miss Mouse Mask directions

From www.bowsandclothes.com

You will need the following supplies to make this design-

1. Embroidery machine and ability to transfer design

2. Felt, vinyl, or other non-fraying fabric
3. Embroidery thread
4. Tear away, cut away, or very stiff wash away stabilizer
5. Elastic or FOE for the back band- 9”-12” depending on age
6. Sticky spray or Gift wrap style tape is optional
7. Rivet tool and rivets are optional

According to my stitching order, this will stitch like this-

Step 1. Hoop your
stabilizer and have your
machine stitch out step
1 of the design using
black thread. This is
the outline stitch for
where to place the
felt/vinyl for the
ears/sides of face.

Step 2. Spray
wrong side of
felt/vinyl with
sticky spray (only if
you want, you don’t
need to!) and place
it sticky side down
on top of stitched
outline so it
completely covers
the outline with the
right side of felt
facing up.
Step 3. Change
thread to skin
color and stitch
out step 2. This is
the outline stitch
for where to place
the felt/vinyl for
the inner face.

Step 4. Spray wrong

side of felt/vinyl with
sticky spray (only if
you want, you don’t
need to!) and place it
sticky side down on
top of stitched
outline so it
completely covers the
outline with the right
side of felt facing up.
Step 5. Keep thread
color and stitch out
step 3. This will stitch
the second piece of
felt/vinyl down.
Notice it does NOT
stitch the bottom part
of the face, this is so
later you don’t have to
worry about it lining up
on the final stitch.

Step 6. Carefully cut out the felt around the stitching, cutting just
the top layer of felt. You will only cut the top and sides, the bottom
does NOT get cut.
When you come to the
edge, simply cut directly
towards the bottom of
the mask to the end of
the felt. The idea here
is to only have the felt
cut away from where
the inner face meets
the outer face color.
Step 7. Change
thread to red and
stitch out step 4.
This is outine of
where to put the
felt/vinyl for the
bow.

Step 8. Spray wrong

side of felt/vinyl with
sticky spray (only if
you want, you don’t
need to!) and place it
sticky side down on top
of stitched outline so
it completely covers
the outline with the
right side of felt
facing up.
Step 9. Keep thread
color and stitch out
step 5. This will
stitch the felt/vinyl
down.

Step 10. Carefully cut out the felt around the stitching, cutting just
the top layer of felt.
You will only cut the
bottom and sides, the
top does NOT get cut.
When you come to the
edge, simply cut directly
towards the top of the
mask to the end of the
felt. The idea here is to
only have the felt cut
away from where the
bow meets the face.
Step 11. Change
thread to white and
stitch out step 6.
This is fill of the
polka dots on the
bow.

Step 12. Take your

hoop off your machine
but do not remove
stabilizer from hoop. Flip
hoop over so you are
looking at the back side
of hoop. Place a piece of
felt over the back of your
hoop that covers the
entire outlined shape.
Use tape or sticky spray
to hold in place if needed.
Step 13. Change
thread to red and
stitch out step 7.
This will stitch
around the mask in
the shape of the bow.

Step 14. Change

thread to black and
stitch out step 8.
This will stitch
around the mask in
the shape of ears and
outer face.
Step 15. Change
thread to skin color
and stitch out step
9. This will stitch
around the mask in
the shape of bottom
of the face.

Step 16. Remove

stabilizer and felt
from hoop and cut out
felt around the
stitches and inside the
eye stitching. Tie or
glue FOE or elastic
through the small holes
on the sides and you
are ALL DONE!
