Who should we hire?

An international beverage company UEH with 100% foreign investment is looking for a manager to
replace the former manager at the Binh Duong Branch. Due to the importance of the position, UEH
decide to use different selection methods including: interview, multiple-choice test, written assignment,
reference check, … The profiles of each candidate are as follow:
1. Mr. Tri, assistant manager of the Ho Chi Minh City Branch, 39 years old, graduated from a top
university, has been working at UEH for 7 years. His working performance has always been rated
as excellent and innovative
2. Mr. Huy, 38 years old, head of the production department of Ho Chi Minh City Branch. His
working performance was excellent, with a strategic vision. He has been working at different job
before joining UEH.
3. Mr. Khoa, 36 years old, chief representative of a Japanese company in Ho Chi Minh City. Due
to Covid_19, this company has to shut down their representative office.
4. Mr. Thach, 46 years old, vice manager of a limited company which specializes in manufacturing
plastic products.
5. Mr. Thang, 34 years old, graduate MBA, assistant manager of a limited company which
specializes in electronic products.

Each candidate was interviewed by 5 members of the interview panel individually. The results of each
candidate were ranked in order from best (1) to lowest (5) are as follows:

Based on the result of the psychological test, candidates are ranked in order of preference from best to
least as follows: Thang (1); Tri (2); Thach (3); Huy (4); Khoa (5). In which, Thang and Tri are considered
to be very dynamic, creative, highly adaptable and able to cope with challenges. The candidates are all
honest, but there are some doubts about Mr. Thang.

The written assignment of handwriting and presentation skills has the following result: Excellent: Thang,
Tri, Huy; Average: Khoa; Unsatisfactory: Thach.
