The purpose of this memo is to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the original document. In
addition, explain and justify the changes in the re-designed document.

Original Document Analysis

In this section I analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the original document.

Strengths
In the original document, the date and time of the event is in large font size that is appealing to the
audience. By having a large font size on text it alerts the audience of the importance of the information.
Another strength that the document has is the utilization of the same typeface throughout the document.
This practice demonstrates the relationship amongst the document.

Weaknesses
In the original document the color scheme of design is not concise which harms the attention of the
audience. In addition, the document is crowded by the sizes of the logos, QR code, and text. The size of
the QR code takes up a large portion of the space that could be used to move the logos around. The
document also lacks the principle of repetition which makes the document less unified and difficult to
read.

Re-designed Document Analysis

In this section I analyze the re-designed document and explain the justification behind the edits.

Re-design explanation and justification

In the re-designed document I changed the color scheme of the document to a dark teal, light teal, and
orange. I changed the color scheme to give the document a concise design that would remain appealing
to the audience. Additionally, I added the color orange to give the document some contrast. The original
document had a 70’s theme which I kept in the re-designed document. Another adjustment made in the
re-designed document was the alignment; I aligned the majority of the text flush left and flush right. The
only centered alignment is the sponsored association on the top middle of the page. I aligned the text to
the left and right to strengthen the proximity of the text with their appropriate text relation. For example,
the date, time and location is on the flush left of the document, while the special performance is on the
flush right above the HSPVA logo. In addition to this, I added the sponsored logos to the bottom of the
page to relate the three sponsorships together. Lastly, I added a free-to-use image of a disco ball to
strengthen the aesthetic of the design.
