for to thee shall all flesh come.
Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord,
and let light perpetual shine upon them.

Kyrie, eleison. Christe, eleison. Kyrie, eleison.

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

GREETING
President Grace, mercy and peace from God our Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you,
All and also with you.
The CONFESSION ¶Remain Standing
Assistant Let us confess to God the sins and shortcomings of the
world; its pride, its selfishness, its greed;
its evil divisions and hatreds.
Let us confess our share in what is wrong,
and our failure to seek and establish that peace
which God wills for his children.

All Almighty God, our heavenly Father,

we have sinned against you
and against our neighbour,
in thought and word and deed,
through negligence, through weakness,
through our own deliberate fault.
We are truly sorry, and repent of all our sins.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
who died for us, forgive us all that is past;
and grant that we may serve you
in newness of life
to the glory of your name. Amen.

The President says the ABSOLUTION:

President Almighty God,

who forgives all who truly repent,
have mercy upon you,
pardon and deliver you from all your sins,
confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,
and keep you in life eternal;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
All Amen.
The COLLECT

President The Lord be with you,

All and also with you.

President Almighty Father,

whose will is to restore all things
in your beloved Son, the King of all:
govern the hearts and minds of those in authority,
and bring the families of the nations,
divided and torn apart by the ravages of sin,
to be subject to his just and gentle rule;
who is alive and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
All Amen.

The EPISTLE Romans 8 vv. 31–39 ¶Sit

Read by Major General A.A. Milton CB OBE, Royal Marines
What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against
us? He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will
he not with him also give us everything else? Who will bring any charge
against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? It is Christ
Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who
indeed intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will
hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or
sword? As it is written,
‘For your sake we are being killed all day long; we are accounted as
sheep to be slaughtered.’
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved
us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor
things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor
anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
For the word of the Lord
All Thanks be to God
The GRADUAL PSALM Psalm 130 is sung:
1.
Out of the deep have I called unto thee, O Lord : Lord, hear my voice.
2.
O let thine ears consider well : the voice of my complaint.
3.
If thou, Lord, wilt be extreme to mark what is done amiss : O Lord, who
may abide it?
4.
For there is mercy with thee : therefore shalt thou be feared.
5.
I look for the Lord; my soul doth wait for him : in his word is my trust.
6.
My soul fleeth unto the Lord : before the morning watch, I say, before the
morning watch.
7.
O Israel, trust in the Lord, for with the Lord there is mercy : and with him
is plenteous redemption.
8.
And he shall redeem Israel : from all his sins.

The GOSPEL John 15 vv. 9–17 ¶Stand

Please stand as the Gospel Procession moves from the Chancel.

The GOSPEL is announced:

Gospeller Hear the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Saint
John.
All Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said to his disciples. ‘As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you;
abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have
said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may
be complete.
‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No
one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are
my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call you servants any
longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I
have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I
have heard from my Father. You did not choose me but I chose you. And I
appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will
give you whatever you ask him in my name. I am giving you these commands
so that you may love one another’.
Gospeller This is the Gospel of the the Lord.
All Praise to you, O Christ.

The Rev’d Carol Barrett Ford
The Chaplain
The ACT OF REMEMBRANCE ¶Stand

President Let us remember before God,

and commend to his sure keeping
those who have died for their country in war;
those whom we knew, and whose memory we treasure;
and all who have lived and died
in the service of the world.

Here follows the SILENCE

The Anthem shall be sung by the Choir:

FOR THE FALLEN

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old:
age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
we will remember them.
Words Laurence Binyon Music Douglas Guest
(1869–1943) (1916–1996)

President Almighty and eternal God,

from whose love in Christ we cannot be parted,
either by death or life:
Hear our prayers and thanksgivings
for all whom we remember this day;
fulfil in them the purpose of your love;
and bring us all, with them, to your eternal joy;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
All Amen.
PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION ¶Kneel or Sit

After each prayer this bidding and response is used:

Intercessor Lord, in your mercy
All hear our prayer.

The INTERCESSIONS conclude with:

Merciful Father,
All accept these prayers
for the sake of your Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

The PEACE ¶Stand

President Jesus said: Peace I leave with you;

my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives, do I give unto you.

President The peace of the Lord be always with you,

All and also with you.

Assistant Let us offer one another a sign of peace.

All may exchange a sign of peace.

The OFFERTORIUM is sung: ¶Sit

Domine Jesu Christe, Rex gloriae,

libera animas omnium fidelium defunctorum de poenis inferni,
et de profundo lacu.
Libera eas de ore leonis, ne absorbeat eas tartarus,
ne cadant in obscurum.
Sed signifer sanctus Michael repraesentet eas in lucem sanctam,
quam olim Abrahae promisisti et semini ejus.
Hostias et preces tibi Domine laudis offerimus,
tu suscipe pro animabus illis, quarum hodie memoriam facimus;
fac eas, Domine, de morte transire ad vitam.
Quam olim Abrahae promisisti et semini ejus.
Lord Jesus Christ, King of glory,
deliver the souls of all the faithful departed from the pains of hell
and from the deep waters.
Deliver them from the mouth of the lion; let hell not swallow them,
let them not fall into darkness.
Let St Michael the standard-bearer conduct them to the holy light,
which of old you promised to Abraham and his seed.
Sacrifices and prayers of praise we offer you,
O Lord; accept them for those souls whom we commemorate today.
Make them pass, O Lord, from death to life.
Which of old you promised to Abraham and his seed.
The PRAYER OF CONSECRATION ¶Stand

President The Lord be with you,

All and also with you.
President Lift up your hearts:
All we lift them to the Lord.
President Let us give thanks to the Lord our God:
All it is right to give thanks and praise.
President Father, we give you thanks and praise
through your beloved Son Jesus Christ,
your living Word,
through whom you have created all things;
who was sent by you in your great goodness
to be our Saviour.
By the power of the Holy Spirit he took flesh;
as your Son, born of the blessed Virgin,
he lived on earth and went about among us;
he opened wide his arms for us on the cross;
he put an end to death by dying for us;
and revealed the resurrection by rising to new life;
so he fulfilled your will and won for you a holy people.
Therefore with angels and archangels,
and with all the company of heaven,
we proclaim your great and glorious name,
for ever praising you and saying:
The SANCTUS and BENEDICTUS are sung:
Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Pleni sunt caeli et terra gloria tua.
Hosanna in excelsis.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini.
Hosanna in excelsis.
Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

¶Kneel or sit
President Lord, you are holy indeed, the source of all holiness;
grant that by the power of your Holy Spirit,
and according to your holy will,
these gifts of bread and wine
may be to us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ;
who, in the same night that he was betrayed,
took bread and gave you thanks;
he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you;
do this in remembrance of me.
In the same way, after supper
he took the cup and gave you thanks;
he gave it to them, saying:
Drink this, all of you;
this is my blood of the new covenant,
which is shed for you and for many
for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this, as often as you drink it,
In remembrance of me.
President Great is the mystery of faith:
All Christ has died,
Christ is risen,
Christ will come again.
President And so, Father, calling to mind his death on the cross,
his perfect sacrifice made once for the sins
of the whole world;
rejoicing in his mighty resurrection
and glorious ascension,
and looking for his coming in glory,
we celebrate this memorial of our redemption.
As we offer you this our sacrifice of praise
and thanksgiving,
we bring before you this bread and this cup
and we thank you for counting us worthy
to stand in your presence and serve you.
Send the Holy Spirit on your people
and gather into one in your kingdom
all who share this one bread and one cup,
so that we, in the company of St John the Evangelist
and all the saints,
may praise and glorify you for ever,
through Jesus Christ our Lord;
by whom, and with whom, and in whom,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all honour and glory be yours, almighty Father,
for ever and ever.
All Amen.

A period of silence is kept

President As our Saviour has taught us, we are bold to say:

All Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

The President breaks the consecrated bread.

President We break this bread

to share in the body of Christ.
All Though we are many, we are one body,
because we all share in one bread.

The PIE JESU is sung: ¶Remain kneeling or seated

Pie Jesu, Domine, dona eis requiem,

dona eis requiem sempiternam.
Holy Jesus, Lord, grant them rest:
grant them eternal rest.
President Draw near with faith.
Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ
which he gave for you,
and his blood which he shed for you.
Eat and drink
in remembrance that he died for you,
and feed on him in your hearts
by faith with thanksgiving.

Those who wish to receive Communion or a Blessing approach the altar rails.

The AGNUS DEI, LUX AETERNA and LIBERA ME are sung by the Choir :

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona eis requiem.

Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona eis requiem sempiternam.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, grant them rest,
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, grant them eternal rest.

Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine, cum sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es.
Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Let light perpetual shine upon them, Lord, with your saints for ever, for you are holy.
Rest eternal grant them, Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them.

Libera me, Domine, de morte aeterna in die illa tremenda,

Deliver me, O Lord, from eternal death, on that fearful day
when heaven and earth will be shaken
and you will come to judge the world by fire.
Trembling seizes me and fear at the advent of judgement and the wrath to come,
when heaven and earth will be shaken.
That day of wrath, destruction and misery is a great and awful day,
when you will come to judge the world by fire.
Rest eternal grant them, Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them.
The POST-COMMUNION PRAYERS ¶Kneel or sit

President God of peace,

whose Son Jesus Christ proclaimed the kingdom
and restored the broken to wholeness of life:
look with compassion on the anguish of the world,
and by your healing power
make whole both people and nations;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
All Amen.

All Father of all,

we give you thanks and praise,
that when we were still far off
you met us in your Son and brought us home.
Dying and living, he declared your love,
gave us grace, and opened the gate of glory.
May we who share Christ's body
live his risen life;
we who drink his cup bring life to others;
we whom the Spirit lights give light to the world.
Keep us firm in the hope you have set before us,
so we and all your children shall be free,
and the whole earth live to praise your name;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The BLESSING ¶Stand

President God grant to the living grace, to the departed rest,

to the Church, the Queen, the Commonwealth and all people,
unity, peace and concord,
and to us and all God’s servants, life everlasting;
and the blessing of God Almighty,
the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
All Amen.
The IN PARADISUM is sung: ¶Remain Standing

In Paradisum deducant te Angeli,

in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres,
et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Jerusalem.
Chorus Angelorum te suscipiat,
et cum Lazaro quondam paupere
aeternam habeas requiem.
May the angels lead you into paradise;
may the martyrs receive you on your arrival
and lead you into the holy city of Jerusalem.
May the host of angels receive you and,
with Lazarus who was once a beggar,
may you have eternal rest.

of the work of the Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion is the UK’s leading charity providing financial,
social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently
serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants. Currently, nearly 11
million people are eligible for our support and we receive around 300,000
calls for help every year.

The Legion was founded in 1921 as a voice for

the ex-Service community and our 550,000
members continue to ensure that this voice
does not go unheard. Although the needs of
ex-Service people have changed over the years,
we are still there to safeguard their welfare,
interests and memory. British service
people are in action around the world every
day of the year. They know that if they need
our support - now or in the future - the Legion
is always on active duty for them.
