shared reading experiences. (Vocabulary)

Instructional objectives: list 2observable/measurable objectives for this lesson. Use precise language w/ action verbs.
The student will be able to:
1. Create the perimeter of the playground by using the materials outside and placing them in the
correct way

2. Use vocabulary related to this topic by remembering their meaning and incorporating them into
conversation.

Experiences: Describe authentic (real life, hands-on not representational) materials and enticing/ creative experiences in
which children are actively engaged. Safety should be addressed if warranted.

The teacher will explain what perimeter means by pointing to the perimeter of the playground. Then the
teacher will explain that the students are creating a model of the playground using the boards. The teacher
will lead the children through a couple so they understand, but then they will do the rest.

The teacher will ask what else the students see, like bushes, trees, and stairs. The teacher will ask the
students what they can use in the playground to represent that. The students should be creative with this.

Evidence of student learning:

To see if the children learned anything, the teacher will use a checklist to see if the students were able to
create the perimeter, use vocabulary, and be creative with the materials.
