language w/ action verbs.
The student will be able to:

1. Identify various modes of transportation and their intended uses by

verbally listing different types and their characteristics.
2. Explain the similarities and differences between different modes of
transportation by observing various vehicles and their size/shapes.

Experiences: Describe authentic (real life, hands-on not representational) materials and enticing/
creative experiences in which children are actively engaged. Safety should be addressed if warranted.

Students will observe cars, motorcycles, bicycles, boats, planes, and helicopters
through photos and toys. Students can explore bicycles, and other vehicles that are
parked or pass by further on the playground.

Students can also look at wheelbarrows and shovels and the way those objects can
transport materials.

Safety considerations for this experience include using materials for their intended use.
Students should observe vehicles from a distance, and not up close.

Evidence of student learning:

To see whether students have met our objective, we will ask students their ability to compare
and contrast different types of vehicles by recalling their specific characteristics.
