Literature Review

The topic I am writing about is “What is the best way to treat kids with anxiety?” There
are many ways to treat anxiety. Whether it’s by taking medication or even getting therapy and
seeing a counselor. Lots of people, not just children, struggle with being anxious on a daily basis,
but there are ways to prevent it.
Some of the most common symptoms of having anxiety are the constant feeling of
someone judging or criticizing you, feeling tense, and having trouble sleeping. Just about
everyone has felt some sort of anxiety but others feel it differently and struggle with it from the
moment they wake up. There are medications that do help but some can cause other side effects
such as withdrawal and insomnia.
Most people who struggle with this disorder feel as if it’s hard to control their discomfort.
Anxiety is mostly common in those who have experienced some sort of trauma in their life such
as abuse or domestic violence. It can be really hard to try new things when you feel anxious
everyday. It can make you feel almost like you are trapped or caged in.
Different types of medications are constantly advertised on the television, magazines, and
the internet. Experts are worried that people are getting prescribed medications that they don’t
need but think they do since they are being advertised all the time. Numbers are constantly going
up causing doctors and experts to feel shocked and surprised. It has been shown that advertising
these medications has induced high demands in these products.
When it comes to children, there are many reasons that cause kids to feel anxious. Things
like getting bullied at school, bad home lives, and abuse. Other disorders including phobias play
a big role in people who have anxiety. It has been found that about 1.8 million children under the
age of 18 have this disorder.
Almost all sources highlight many of the same key points. Highlighting medications, the
causes of anxiety, how it makes you feel, and how it is a very common disorder. Most children
also suffer with depression as well as anxiety.
