Yongpradit, the reading starts out by assisting the common idea that teaching computer science
is for career development. From there, the text adds more reasons as to why we should be
teaching computer science, a briefing on whether it is too early for the students to learn, and then
the article concludes with an elaboration about students not being the ones stopping computer
science. The article discusses the many resources that technology has brought to the table and
how they have helped students express their learning in many different ways. The author
addresses sources that have recently come out with new developments to help students learn in

Although the article uses multiple sources and sites specific companies working in the
field of computer science, it does seem as if the author is doubting the reader throughout most of
the writing. The article seems persuasive in favor of teaching computer science, however, it is
also loaded with questions to the reader that seem as if the author is doubting the readers
capabilities. This could potentially lead to the reader being more in favor of not teaching
computer science. It was a highlight of the article for the author to address more than just career
development as a benefit of teaching computer science. By writing that students could learn
different methods of demonstrating their thinking, test taking strategies, and problem solving; the
article hooks the reader in, as these are not the typical topics covered when discussing computer
science. Although I, personally, thought that the article was doubting the reader, I think that it
addresses some very critical points in the idea of teaching computer science in the elementary
classroom. I also appreciated how the author started the article with a question that most teachers

are searching to find an answer for. The main idea that was presented was that computer science
should be taught in the elementary classroom and that teachers should learn how to teach
computer science. Overall, this is the main idea that we were looking for. However, the author
also presents the ideas of different organizations making way in the world of technology. The
text also approaches the idea that common core testing is switching to a digital format, therefore
teaching students that technology is not only a resource and fun, but it is also a tool. The author
also brings a critical point up about students being able to demonstrate their learning in multiple
ways, this elaborates on the different learning styles and expands the mind of students to all
different types of learning. Overall, there were points in the article that seemed hurtful for a
teachers perspective, however, the author does a wonderful job of surrounding the article with
