Classroom Management

Philosophy

My Classroom Management Philosophy: I believe that all students should
feel welcome and safe within the classroom. Students should know what is expected of
them and know what to expect from their teacher. I do not believe that a student can be
forced to behave. A student should want to behave and the class topics and structure
should be relevant to the student. Their classwork should be important to them.

My classroom management philosophy consists of treating all students fairly. Expectations

will be clearly laid out and the classroom will have a clear and consistent structure.
Students will know that I care about them. Students should feel comfortable enough to be
honest and to expect that same level of honesty from their teacher.

Management Philosophy
➔ William Glasser:
Teachers should provide a genuinely
engaging curriculum, emphasize
quality in teaching and learning, and
influence students, in a noncoercive
manner, to make choices that bring
academic and social success.

➔ Marvin Marshall:
Teachers should teach and practice
procedures, infuse positivity into
communications, empower students by
giving choices, and learn to ask
reflective questions to influence
students rather than trying to force
obedience.
Classroom Management Philosophy #1
William Glasser’s first strategy focuses on helping students
learn to choose more effective conduct, rather than trying
to force it on them.

Glasser’s second strategy promotes the idea of eliminating

failure from students’ school experiences. He does this by
structuring school learning so that it leads to a genuine
sense of accomplishment among students.
How would William Glasser’s
philosophy fit with my style?
Glasser believed in using non-coercive tactics
in working with students.
Providing a curriculum that is genuinely
attractive to students.

Classroom Management Philosophy #2
Marvin Marshall believes that students happily
engage in class activities when they find school
satisfying. Teachers should create curiosity,
interest, enjoyment, and challenge with activities
that will have students want to put forth effort in
their learning.

philosophy fit with my style?

Conclusion
The classroom should be a safe and open place for students.
There should be a free exchange of ideas between the
students and the teacher. When students are comfortable and
interested in the topic that is being they will want to learn and
should not need to be forced to learn.
