It brings me immense pleasure to welcome you to the official newsletter of Leo Club of Colombo Knights. This edition is all about the fantastic ride of Leo Club of Colombo Knights throughout this year. Amidst countless challenges and difficulties, the Club strived hard to stand for the true meaning of humanity, and the editorial kept evolving and growing with every month's edition. The story of The Lancelot wouldn't have been successful if not for my amazing team. | would like to convey special thanks to Leo Lion Sansali Ovinma and Leo Gevindu Kodikara for being the biggest strengths behind me throughout this leoistic year. Also, I'm extremely proud of my junior designers and editors for coming so far, sharpening their skills, and doing everything for the magazine with so much passion and dedication. ‘As a team, we were able to create the first-ever cinematographic magazine, and there onwards, digital space management became a crucial factor in the success of the magazine. Therefore, | extend my heartiest gratitude on behalf of the Club to our one-and-only tech wizard, Leo Chamodh Rathnayake. We promised at the Décima Installation that the editorial would take our readers on an incredible journey filling the hearts of our beloved readers with awe and excitement. With the Décima Edition of the magazine, let us walk you through the memory lane of the Leo Club of Colombo Knights. Once again (well, for the last time), | warmly welcome you to the Décima Edition of the most awaited newsletter by a Leo Club ~ The Lancelot. sah. Leo Dini thulathmudali Editor-in-Chief Leoistic Year 2021-22 PAGE a 04 THE LANCELOT | DECIMA EDITION KNIGHTS’ YEAR A brief lookback at the Levistic year 2021-22 Décima Installation The tenth installation ceremony of the Leo Club of Colombo Knights took place on the 3ist of July 2021 at the Nawaloka Banquet Hall. The event marked the beginning of yet another fantastic leoistic year for the Leo Club of Colombo Knights. The launching of the club newsletter “The Lancelot” and the official Knights’ website were the key highlights of the event. Qondd Senior citizens who are abandoned and lonely deserve love, affection, and care. In order to do our part for the betterment of our own senior citizens, project Mehewara was conducted in the month of March. Through this project, we were able to distribute sanitary items and cleaning equipment to a selected elder’s home. THE LANCELOT | DECIMA EDITION ©8O Safety No matter what you do or where you are, safety comes first. It is important to avoid any dangers that can harm you and your loved ones. In order to educate the public on managing potential disasters, the Leo Club of Colombo Knights initiated the project, Gamata Safety, where a selected number of people were given a workshop on avoiding any dangers that may occur in one’s day-to-day life. One of the most unique and sustainable projects conducted by the Leos of Leo Club of Colombo Knights. With the hope of giving life to an abandoned paddy field to create a sustainable way of living as well as a long-lasting source of food. This project commenced in November, and we were able to crop the harvest in April. 06 THE LANCELOT | DECIMA EDITION © Doda The Knights’ initiative towards ending diabetes. In the month of December, project Suwa Dhara was conducted as a diabetic camp where innovative health food and beverages were introduced to the general public. The motive of the project was to educate the public on easy ways of combatting diabetes. @enasess 22 Undoubtedly, a unique initiative that inspired many lives to start hustling. Through this project, Colombo Knights educated the general public on several unique products through which they could start a new venture. These products included incense sticks, soap, gold oil, candles, and body scrubs. It was a great pleasure to receive high commendations for the project. E THE LANCELOT | DECIMA EDITION 07 908OQ BSe0 This is one of the most significant projects that happen every year. The objective of the project "Surakimu Siripa” is to clean the holy place of Sri Padhasthanaya. Every year a troop of Knights visits Sri Padhasthanaya to clean the route to this revered destination. Furthermore, more than fifty people with special needs were accompanied with us on the pilgrimage. Naturexpo’22 How can we talk about wildlife conservation without even knowing what wildlife is? With that, Colombo knights initiated the project Naturexpo'22, in collaboration with the Young Zoologists Association Sri Lanka to educate the youth about nature. The project consisted of several phases that educated the youth on nature, its diversity, and its importance. 08 THE LANCELOT | DECIMA EDITION Sanhinda wasamulti-service project conducted by the Colombo Knights.Some of the key initiatives includedin the project were the renovation of apregnancy wardin the Ranorawa divisionalhospital, book donation for students, eye checkup and spectacle distribution, baby bag donation to pregnant mothers, a session on psychology and parenting, wheelchair donation to a paralyzed patient and an aashir wada puujawa. ‘An iconic project through which we were able to equip the ICT laboratory ‘of Gnanananda Maha Vidyalaya, Pelmadulla, with new Computers. The main donor for the project was the Sri Lankan Student Union of Western Sydney University. With their kind contribution, we were able to light up the path to a successful future for our own brothers and sisters.
