Subject: We Need To Begin Incentivizing People To Use Alternative Energy Methods

Good morning,

The United States has been thriving for many decades now. We have one of the best
economies in the world, we have an abundance of technology and new technology is being
developed every day, and so much more. We are constantly making strides to improve the
lives of our citizens. However, as a Congress I believe that we are falling behind in one key
area. Though we are thriving technologically, our planet is not. These advancements in
technology and convenience in our daily lives are releasing harmful greenhouse gases into our
atmosphere. Greenhouse gases are gases that when they are released into the atmosphere,
they trap heat inside of them. These are dangerous for our environment because these gases
are warming our planet slowly but surely. When our planet warms, there will be catastrophic
events. For example, habits will be lost, storms will get worse, and cities may go underwater.
We need to begin writing legislation that incentivizes people to user cleaner alternative energy
methods that produce less of these harmful gases.

I believe that as members of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, we have more
than enough power to combat this problem. The simplest solution we could implement is
proposing legislation that promotes companies and individuals to use cleaner energy methods.
These cleaner energy methods include methods such as hydropower, wind power, solar power,
nuclear power, etc. This legislation could be anything from limiting the methods that companies
and individuals use to produce energy or providing money for companies/individuals who
display that they are using cleaner energy methods. This legislation is important because these
greenhouse gases are killing our planet slowly. Our planet is warming at a surprisingly faster
rate than any other point in human history. If this continues to happen, ice caps will melt away,
habitats will be lost, sea levels will rise, and catastrophic storms will become frequent. Once
people begin to use cleaner energy methods, our planet will begin to heal. Animals and
humans alike will not lose their homes due to flooding, the sea level will remain constant, and
we will not see horrific storms constantly.

I know that Climate Change is a pretty big political debate nowadays, but as members of this
committee I feel as though it is our job to begin advocating for these alternative energy
