Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Engagement: Personal reflection is invited, and various designs are used.
Representation: With videos as part of the lesson, students have an auditorial and visual component to
learning.
Action and Expression: Allows for students to go through the lesson at their own pace.

Lesson idea implementation:

Students go through each lesson at their own pace. Each lesson should take approximately 20-30 minutes.
Student learning is assessed based on responses to questions throughout the lessons. Seeing what students
thought to be the most interesting part of the lesson as is asked in the final part of each lesson informs
learning.
Learning is extended to a higher level by personalizing questions to their individual experience of learning.
The lesson concludes with the Nearpod ending. Students will get feedback on their work digitally in their
student email, with grades and commentary on their answers.
Importance of technology:
Nearpod is critical to lesson as it combines preparatory slides with videos and assessment questions/activities
that can only be done through an online lesson. While it could be changed to be done without technology, it
would be less efficient and couldn’t be done remotely. Students will be using laptops and possibly
headphones as part of their learning experience.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:
This learning experience could only endanger a student if the people around them are offended by the
religious content they are learning about. Therefore, students will only complete their lessons under
supervision of their parents or teacher, with or without headphones. Other than that, there is no risk of
students going off task or viewing inappropriate media because the Nearpod lesson is all self-contained.
Student responses are only sharable to others given access to the lesson.
Reflective Practice:
Blended Learning and Online Learning in K-12
The activities I created inspire creativity within students and therefore enhance learning. The lesson could be
further extended with virtual tours to different parts of Asia and individual projects on different cultures,
religions, and philosophies in Asia.
