The Value of Courage

Courage is one of the values of St. Sebastian. Courage is the ability to face anything at

any time. In this life, we will face challenges and hardships throughout our journey, to our goals.

We also all have fears. This is the why it is essential to possess courage in order to overcome

fears and achieve desired goals.

Being courageous made me who I am despite many struggles I experienced in life.

Sometimes struggles and fears that affects me physically and mentally, but I just continue to

fight back because it might stop me from exploring myself and achieving something in my life.

An experience of me showcasing my self-confidence is when I became the host of the even at

our church. I was a shy person before and that was my first time hosting to an event so my

anxiety sky rocketed after knowing that I was the one assigned for the task. I know that I need to

overcome it, and to overcome anxieties and attain the desired objective, self-confidence is

required. At February 14, 2022, I gathered all my courage and did the hosting of the Love

Fellowship of the whole church. After that hosting, I felt like I became a new person. I became

more confident to talk to many people.

Another, courage makes me try new things and I think embracing the unknown or

learning and experiencing something new without even knowing what is ahead of me. And

without the courage of trying something unknown will never bring me progress. I will only be

stuck on one stage in my life. One of my longest confusion in my life as a student is choosing my

course in college. I do not know what to choose, what I want, and what is ahead of me. Even

though I do not know what is ahead of me, and I don’t know the hardships that I will be facing, I

enrolled in a Psychology course in Colegio de Sebastian. In short, I took a leap into the

unknown. And because of my courage, I was able to choose the right course and become a

Dean’s Lister.

Courage brought huge changes and success so far for me. I was able to accept the past,

face the present, and look forward into the future. I reached the things that at first, I will never

reach. And with this value of courage that I have with me, with the help of the Lord and the

guidance of the school, I know that I will reach new heights higher than I expected to be.
