NOTES FOR ADOLESCENT COMMUNITY

For María Montessori, the most important thing in this stage is centered on autonomy, freedom,
democratic practice, economic production and the rehearsal of life in society.
With this idea, Montessori imagined in the last years of her professional life, an environment
prepared for adolescents in which they would be focused on themselves as a group and could have
real experiences as a field of cultivation where to sow what they will be in tomorrow, functional
women and men and active members of society in its many aspects: first, the human dimension and
solidarity, centered on democratic practice, on values and egalitarian ethics that allow social
transformation and full life in a culture of peace, and secondly, a praxis on a shared and cooperative
and non-competitive economy that serves to enhance and unite the human being and the different
societies that are related and interdependent with each other.
NOTES FOR ADOLESCENT COMMUNITY

Our Montessori proposal for the secondary stage is a mixed and urban proposal, where we do not
lose sight of the work of and with the land through the school garden (where we grow seasonal
Mediterranean vegetables such as beets, chard, lettuce and carrots) and where the collective
entrepreneurship project has a great weekly weight (8 hours) centralized in the carpentry, where
they are specializing in small repairs for the school and the construction and sale of pedagogical
material.
In addition to this, for the professionalizing dimension, the group of adolescents is in charge of
the tasks of design, marketing, publicity and communication of their school project through the
design of their own web page still under construction and the interaction in social networks.
especially on instagram.

The adolescents, in addition, also prepare events and design meetings and
cultural proposals for the school, and for the families, always for the benefit of
their community.

Talking about the Academic level, the boys and girls follow the legal programming
corresponding to the school year in Spain, expanding knowledge through project work and
enriched thanks to the mix of ages in the environment, which facilitates an environment where
learning takes place multiple ways and is fed back thanks to the interaction of the group.
In this way, we intend to generate a warm and comfortable environment in which adolescents
can extend their learning and we can cover their stage needs, both those of growth, such as
communication, group identity and personality construction, as well as dealing with the
numerous changes that are associated with this stage of puberty and early youth.
NOTES FOR ADOLESCENT COMMUNITY

To ensure that we work across the social development of boys and girls and in the absence of a
proposal in which boys and girls share their lives, responsibilities and learning in housing, from
the school we propose certain outings as well as days of coexistence in where we try to be in a
natural environment where there is a challenge but also calm and generate group unity through
these approaches.
The adolescent community has the capacity to self-manage its agreements, its internal rules and
certain issues of its operation, always following the guidelines given by the school. This
important organ of organization is the assembly, which takes place once every two weeks.
